Tom's Barrel Exhaust?
hi
are there any reviews of Tom's Barrel (stainless steel) exhaust? my ISF is stock without any mods. I am a daily driver and have no plans to go to the track. I've recently been wanting to change the exhaust sound without disturbing my neighbors, but the sounds of Xforce, Joe Z and Borla aren't to my taste. I became interested in exotic sounds after watching Tom's exhaust on YouTube. but I watched all the related videos on YouTube, and it doesn't seem like many people are installing it. and there are no reviews from CL members. Are there any reviews on how Tom's exhaust actually sounds? thanks! |
Yes it is a great exhaust! Not too loud either.

I'm actually starting to consider a cat back as well (waiting for stock mainifold to fail before jumping into headers), but not sure what's currently produced - as I understand it, unless you can find a used one, Joe Z and Borla aren't made anymore.

We can do Tom's Racing axle back, GTHAUS catback, PPE headers + axle back or catback, and thats about it that we offer. -Josh |
I have it, it's a little louder and deeper sounding than stock.
I love it personally as I wanted something close to oem. Perfect if you still want a close to stock oem sound. |
Here's a video with ppe and toms barrel exhaust.

The upgraded exhaust sound based on the stock is exactly what I wanted. Installing PPE headers into the exhaust system later also seems like a good option. |

The PPE headers apparently make the exhaust quite a bit louder. I've got an exhaust and I've got headers that I haven't installed yet. If I was going to do it again, I'd buy and install the headers first, and then decide how loud or quiet an exhaust/muffler setup I wanted after figuring out how much noise the headers add. Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.

^^^^Or get a valved exhaust like the PPE Dual Mode.

If you can I'd recommend trying to hear a few in person before you drop the cash. Other than start up or WOT I have zero issue with a Borla + PPE setup being anything that would be bothersome. Cruising makes for a nice hum in the car but unless you're accelerating anyone even one car away would have little idea they're next to a modded car unless they know what they're listening for.
Vids don't really do most of the sounds justice and whatever you get you're going to be listening to it on the regular. |
