sticky dash recall
Greetings,
Just received a notice that the IS-C is now doing the sticky dash recall, with the standard warranty being extended to either 2021 or 10 years after date of first drive. Mine is a 2013, so a bit surprised that my car was affected, as it seemed to only affect the earlier 2006-2008 2nd gen IS's. Has anyone experienced the melting dash that our sedan brethrens have had to deal with?
Regards,
Eddy

Hmm. I'm curious. What is a sticky dash? So far as I know, I don't have one.
The IS-C is a bit rare in the UK but 800 (as against 16,000 in the US) were sold. Generally, any Lexus recall would find its way over here as for the passenger's air bag recall.

That is weird (but good in a way, just in case, for insurance I guess). That said, I test drove/looked at numerous 12-15 ISCs and none of them had any issue with melting or sticky dashes. Also, the 06-08s were replaced with dashes that were being put in 12+, so it's unlikely those batches were ALSO bad (they knew of the problem by then and should have changed supplies/had the suppliers fix their formulations).
I'd have to guess that 13+ at least would be OK. But it's nice knowing if it goes downhill, there might be coverage for 10 years (I have a 14 so not sure if those would even be included in the letter you got... haven't gotten any letter myself).

We just brought my wife's 250C in for service (just about 30,000 miles) and the service guy mentioned the sticky dash CSP. He sent pictures to Lexus, even though we didn't notice the dash being sticky, and got approval to do the work. He also got approval to replace the head unit because my wife has been having connectivity issues with her phone. Oh, and they are doing the airbag recall as well. Needless to say, my wife is driving around in the NX loaner they gave her while they do all the work.

The dealer gave me a heads up a year or so ago that the IS-C dash has a 'recall'--or maybe more like an extended warranty on the dash/trim pieces. Although I haven't seen the problem, apparently the dash can suffer the sticky problem in high heat areas.
I don't think they're required to advertise it on the traditional recall lookup sites since it's not a safety concern.

That is because this IS NOT a recall. It is an extended warranty, in this case a 10 years. It started on the date that the vehicle was first put into service. A recall requires the manufacturer to notify all the users of the product and is valid for 15 (16?) years from the date of the recall. Things covered by a warranty, extended or otherwise, do not require notification.
If you want to find out about recalls, go here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchSafetyIssues and click on VEHICLES.
If you enter your VIN, you will get the recalls that have not been completed on your car. If all recalls have been done, you will get nothing. Use the VEHICLE tab to see what recalls have ever been created.

Sticky Dash- still in effect for 2012 ISC
Thanks to those that originally posted about the dash extended warranty for the ISC. I just purchased a 2012 ISC and the Lexus dealership has it now to replace the dash under warranty. There are also door panels and read interior quarter panel trim in question- will update you when I hear back.
