Default Recall on passenger airbag inflator

I received a notification from our UK Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency of a recall for my 2011 IS250-C. This relates to replacement of the passenger airbag inflator at the expense of Lexus UK and I am directed to make arrangements with my local Lexus agent.

Of course, our passenger side is to the left as we drive on the wrong side of the road.

Do any of you guys know of this and does it only affect the IS-C?

I saw it on the news about recall. Called my dealer and they ordered a new one. Already installed. Did not ask if only IS C cars were involved. Mine is a 2013 IS250C

My dealer tells me that this affects all IS models of a certain era and they have turned about 500 around.

The labour time is 4.1 hours and they want the car for a day. Irrationality has crept in and I am a little fearful that they might mess up some of the other systems along the way.

I'll give everything a thorough functional test before and after the replacement.

Here is the link to check for recalls:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm

and yes, there is a recall on the 2012 IS250c and the IS350c. Go to the dealer and get your name on the list. They probably won't have one in stock.

That's right. The problem is due to corrosion that is more common in certain areas where the humidity is higher, so if your car may not be included.

Go to the link I posted and enter your VIN and double check to see if your car comes up. If you enter just the year, make and model, a recall may come that is not a nation-wide recall.

I took my 2012 IS350c in for the airbag recall. It took 2 days because I also needed an oil change. Don't forget, Lexus fills up your gas tank when you have recall work done, so take it in empty and remind the consultant that the car should be full when you pick it up. Sometimes they forget.

Roblim, are you kidding? Here in the UK our gas costs twice what your US pump price is. If I suggested a free fill-up they would go into heart failure. A free coffee is about as good as it gets.

My IS-C is booked in for the airbag recall. They assure me that they only need to remove the glovebox and not the entire dash so fingers-crossed that It will come back in good shape.

I have had pb recall on my NX and recall for air bag on II. Neither one had gas put in them from dealer when I picked them up

Mention it to your service advisor next time you take the car in for service. My guess is that they will honor the fill up on the next service. This is a Lexus policy and is part of the maintenance steps for all recalls. I learned about it on these forums. Last summer, Longo Lexus filled up my 2016 RX350 when there was a TSB for the rear door sensor last summer and South Bay Lexus refilled my 2012 IS350c. It was done without inquiry at Longo but I did have to politely ask at South Bay.

When Lexus first started out they had to replace the taillights in the LS400. Too many light bulbs = got too hot and melted the plastic. They sent mechanics to the owners and replaced the part on the spot. Before leaving, the mechanic filled up the gas tank and got the car washed. They had to repair an LS400 in Alaska and there was no car wash open so the mechanic left a 20 under the windshield wiper and apologized for not being able to get it washed. It has always been the Lexus way.

I just got the recall notice for my ISC. Anybody have any problems after recall with squeaks or rattles? Full dash needs to come out?
