Default Considering IS250C. A few questions for the enthusiasts.

Hey There!

Long time Toyota driver. Celicas and then Solaras.
As my Solara gets on in age, I'm torn towards the IS-250C, moreso than the Infiniti G series.
Looking around the 2010-2012 model years.

I had assumed the design and whatnot stayed pretty much the same from it's 2010-2014 run.... however I'm starting to read that headlight changes, etc. went on through the model years.

Is it possible that there's a comprehensive list somewhere of any changes. Would I be crazy to look at a 2010 when 2012 has that many more cosmetic features to be worth owning?

.... and secondly, as I look in the resale market.
What nightmare awaits me, if I choose to go with a unit that didn't have a Navigation System.

Does the stock system have an Amp or no?
Do these whacky Chinese aftermarket head units still exist?
... adding a custom double DIN looks like a good project, but it also looks intensive. I'm not stranger to such work, but apparently there's a lot to consider.

I'm not opposed to just hardwiring in a good external navi, so long as it looks nice. Anyone have any suggestions on that?

Thanks for all your support. Hope to be a part of the Club soon.

Hi how are you, welcome to clublexus. This should actually be posted on the ISC section. 2010 does not have the New headlights. Starting from 2011 is where they get the LED headlights. The OEM navi I would say is one of the better navi's compared to lets say Benz or BMW. If you look at photos from 2010 and 2011, youll notice the cosmetic changes. You will have to determine which year is more aesthetically appealing to you.

Resale I would assume would be good no matter what since the ISC is such a rare car. However the market isnt as large either so Not too sure about resale.

The chinese units You speak of should be Flyaudio Unit. I think i saw that Alibaba has a few units. Or ebay.

Stock system should have an Amp. as well as ML systems.

Thanks. I figured the model was generic enough in the sense that the ISC visually and interior wise was similar to the IS.
I don't really have any convertible specific questions. I'll miss my Solara Trunk, but C'est la vie.

For the most part it is similar in aesthetics, however, ISC parts are not really interchangeable with sedan parts.

2011: Primarily the changes to LED headlights
2012: No changes of note
2013: Added the "F Sport" trim to the lineup, HD radio, Lexus Enform 2.0
2014: Revised interior trim for F Sport line
2015: Revised interior (organ style accelerator) for non-F Sport trim and some updates to Lexus Enform.

Note there was a limited F Sport model of this car (I believe only 100?) for the 2011 MY with every single OEM mod produced added to it that retailed for $60K+. You probably won't find it, so don't try . This is different than the F Sport trim produced in 2013 and onwards, which is mainly cosmetic with some suspension mods. You can add F Sport parts onto it.

Externally, the only changes happened in 2011, and 2013 if you are going to get the F Sport Trim, which does look more modern and sharper to the eye, and more in line with the L-Finesse design that Lexus has in its lineup today.

No suggestions on external systems, but I'd strongly recommend finding a model with the Mark Levinson audio package if sound is important to you. I have sat in one and it is a marked improvement. Not sure how Nav impacts resale, but smartphones today can do turn by turn pretty handily... I hardly use the Nav in my vehicle.

The 250 is not fast and the 350 will be far and away the much better drive. But note, this car is quite rare and in trying to find the one you want used... the 350 may not be worth the compromises to work within your budget (i.e. I took a loaded, immaculate condition low mileage 250 with F Sport mods over a "base" 350 with accident history for the same price). The 250 is generally easier to find and probably sold in higher numbers.

Agree with svelt's suggestion of finding one with the Levinson audio package. Very nice sound quality.
