Default Starfire Pearl and Ultra White Cleanliness

Fellow Owners of "white" IS Cs ,
Is it just me or does the rear end of your car extra filthy too?

Has anyone fitted spray guards/mud flaps to your rear wheel arches? if so, how effective have they been?

Should I be worried about the amount of soot on my IS350C's rear bumper? I haven't done a chemical analysis of the soot so it could be road grim too and not just the byproduct of my lead foot or a richly running engine but I am interested in knowing your experience.

Yes I have and use a Califonia/west coast duster. :-)
Thanks
Tom

I've never seen, nor heard of rear mud guards being available for an IS. I don't have an IS C, but I have a Starfire Pearl IS350. The rear bumper becomes dirty after a short drive. It's just a result of dirt and dust being kicked up as a result from the car's aerodynamic properties, plus the color of the car doesn't help the matter. It's just something we live with.

FYI: Do not use a surface duster if you care about your paint. They mar the clear coat, creating surface scratches rather easily since there is not lubrication. Doing so literally pushes surface abrasives across your paint leaving scratches in your clear. It's best just to wait and wash your car (proper technique can be found within the detailing section) rather than using a duster.

I have the soot too. Kinda hard to wash off.

If your paint has a good layer of protection (ie sealant or wax), it should come right off with a wash.
