Default Subwoofer in factory location

Hey ISC forum, has anyone tried to add a sub in the factory location for the ML system? Is the area behind the rear seat accessible and is it possible to fit anything else (amp) along with a SW? Trying to determine feasibility of using that area.

ive looked at powered subs that go under the seat as well as the JL microsub for the trunk between divider and trunk latch. Would really hate to sacrifice space. The NXT doesn't fit the vert in rear corner. Trying to add Bass and swap focal 3-way and 2-way component speakers for factory non MLs.

Thx for your input. J.

Sorry, my vert comrade, but I don't think you'll have much luck finding a place in the trunk. According to the thread below from 2010, a knowledgeable aftermarket, Lexus recommended installer says such.

I'm curious though. Is the factory sub not adequate? I suppose you could utilized the available trunk space when the top is down at the rear for an enclosure that could be easily removed when you need the space or need access to the spare.

Thanks - it's slim pickin's for concepts. To clarify, have the stock speaker set-up with no sub. The question was whether the area where the ML sub would go is accessible and pragmatic to add a sub bw the rear seat and trunk panel. I saw the only two threads devoted to this issue. Unfortunately there are so few verts out there, online retailers don't have a setup for it, so I don't think there's much more input other than sacrificing the spare tire well or using a powered or mini sub that is removable.

ISC space is super limited to where an aftermarket sub can be added.

I've heard of custom box for the foot well corners, tiny box behind the seats, and spare tire well in the trunk.

I opted for the spare tire well in the trunk. If a custom audio shop builds one, they can fit 2x amps (realistically only 1 needed), 2x 8" subs in a custom enclosure, 3 gallon air tank and 1x compressor (if you have air cups or air suspension.)

That looks like a great setup, but my point was that there appears to be some place in the trunk to mount a subwoofer as the ML/premium system has one as can be see here as item #14. The question is what are the specs and where to mount an amp.

https://www.discountpartsmonster.com...nd-system-scat

It must be amplified as well 'cause it is damn expensive at $678.14!!

Correction; Not amplified per the pics here

Default Subwoofer addition, non-ML

Hello all-
I've read through this thread regarding adding a sub to a non-ML ISC in the factory location behind the rear seat. Has anyone done this and if so would it need to be a free air type of sub? Also- where did you mount the amp? I'd really like to use the factory hole and keep what little trunk space I have and not lose the spare tire. I figured the amp could tap into the rear speakers for the signal instead of using a line output converter (LOC)
Thanks!
Jim
