Anyone know what brake fluid our cars take? I just need to get something to bleed the system once the calipers go on that's compatible with whatever is already in the system. Not looking to track or beat on the brakes.

They come with DOT3.
You can top it off with any DOT3 or DOT4 fluid. DOT4 typically is going to have a higher (better) boiling point than DOT3. DOT3 and DOT4 are mixable and interchangeable.

Is it frowned upon mixing different brand brake fluids? Or is any dot 3 brand okay to top off?
Is there a master list of aftermarket wheels that are capable of clearing these larger brakes? Also, for those of you who have upgraded the brakes, what do you do for a spare tire? The one in the trunk becomes useless, right?

Sorry if this has already been answered.
Not sure about aftermarket wheels.
For the spare tire, Modern Spares offers a 19" compact spare for the IS500 that clears. The RCF/GSF just have a can inflator, no spare tire. Holding out that the IS500 may come with an OE spare that clears but I am doubtful on that.
spielnicht - Is this the part number for the fluid you got? 00475-1BF03-LX
Still gathering parts, but debating whether I want to go DOT4 for the higher boiling point or just stick with DOT3 and flush it more often to keep moisture out.
Yes, the part number was 00475-1BF03 (sans the -LX, which is basically the exact same fluid but in a Toyota branded bottle). It's DOT4 that requires more frequent flushing due to moisture retention.
Personally didn't see the reason to go with DOT4 over 3. Car is engineered for DOT3. My spirited driving will never need more than that. Plus, DOT3 is much [much] kinder to powder coatings (if spilled), so there is that.
My new RC F front calipers and stock IS500 rears are going in for powder coating later this week. Can't wait to do the install.

Done! This was probably my favorite project to date on this car just because I love taking things apart and putting them back together.
After lots of back-n-forth, decided to go with yellow. Initially wanted red but then every damn blue Tesla in my neighborhood has red calipers, so that turned me off real quick. Not to mention, I'm sure lots of IS owners (not just 500s) will jump on the UE red Brembo calipers. Nothing wrong with that, just a little something more unique for my car to stand out.
I'm not sure where I read it (and Gemini confirmed it) that the front IS F dust shields will fit on our cars. They don't. Not even close. I trimmed mine for now but will get the new shields when the UE comes out. Also, the rotor retainer bolt doesn't work with the RC F rotors on our hubs. Not sure how Lexus is handling that with the UE. Not a big deal, but curious if they're gonna have a unique rotor or a new hub.

Very nice. IMO the only pop of bright colot on a car should be calipers.
Im still debating, if I want to keep the rcf bronze/orange color for my swap. Of if i powdercoat them a different color. But im with you, I like red calipers but they're so played out.
SlowlaneAZ - That is an amazing job!! I wish I had the ability to dabble in such projects!! I have teh tools, just lacking the confidence All I am hoping is that my wheels will fit the UE - Was talking to the dealer yesterday and he is getting one and my name is tagged on it - no pressure to take it.
It's a brand new part number, you won't find anything about it online. If you Google that part number, most/all results are for other part numbers instead, because there are no results for these specific part numbers. Read the results you're seeing carefully.
Production of these backing plates started last month. You can likely get them on order with a local dealership, but it may be some time before they are readily available, and definitely some time before you'll see them populate in online sources.

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the Ultimate Edition front calipers, which, if not mistaken, are black? Thanks
