Here is a quick video by Mike F of our meet yesterday! He took the opportunity to compare all the gray and silver paints on the IS 500, since we had all of them in one place.

My car is the Infrared one on the far right. I had a twin there owned by a nice gentleman named Phillip - also a 2023 with black interior and BBS wheels. :)

Video unavailable, it seems?

What a sensational video showing side by side of the different shades of grey. As the commentor mentions at the end " Hopefully, this makes your colour decision easier, or harder". LOL

I honestly liked this one. Finally, an IS ad about driving instead of how you look handing your keys to the valet. :D

I agree. It kind of reminds me of the old ISF commerical, which got me into an IS 16 years ago.

A super fan in New Zealand was able to get the IS500 shipped from Japan.

He's doing the Lord's work removing tread from the Bridgestones. :D

BWAHAHAHA!! Right!! 🤣👏🏽

Funny story, Shane follows me on IG. His page had no mention (or picture) of any car; let alone a shipped in IS500, so I didn’t follow back. In response to my Youtube comment, he sent a message and said he’s the owner. 🫣

I’ve followed back now. ☺️☺️☺️

Watching all these videos over the last 2 years, in real world conditions, the reviewers can't seem to do any better than a 0 to 60 time of 4.7-5.0 seconds. Pretty consistent with a fairly good sample size of tests done. The power is there - just seems like a battle every time to get that ideal traction for that ideal launch. I know I always struggle to get a launch that I can convince myself was a great launch. However, from a roll, the car just takes off, and I'd wager would perform very well compared to the competition if a similar number of tests would be performed. I get a different feeling when punching it from a roll - you just get the sensation that it absolutely blasts off and pulls like crazy. Perception I guess and the difference between RWD and AWD.

it's the tires, the modes they are in, 99% of them don't know that it needs to be in Manual w/ Sport+ as well as foot all the way down, also of course the driver. Motorweek got 4.4 out of their test and Motor Trend got 4.3 somehow lol

In the real world, on first try, I managed to get right at 5.0 seconds on a dusty, non-ideal road. This is just my rough estimate by reviewing the video. The beginning of the acceleration was also slightly uphill. I had the Continentals on by then. Video below.
I think it's whatever... we all know this car is tire-limited. It has the same power as the RC F but has narrower tires - and the stock Bridgestones are not nearly as good as the PS4S tires that are on the RC F. So, it stands to reason we're at least a few tenths slower.

Spoiler

edit: I timed it using a stopwatch on my phone, and I got 4.80 seconds from the time I heard my foot hit the pedal to the time "60" was displayed on the gauges. Not bad. :D
