TL;DR No IS 500 in the video above and the uppity suburbanites got their a$$es arrested instead of just getting a traffic ticket for driving a golf cart and committing some infraction.

Didn’t really show too much, it was a roll race shot from the rear…at night. The ISF won so the comments were what you expected. ::chuckling:;

 

When he got rid of his 500, I knew he’d regret it. Did it for good reasons, but I knew he’d miss it. (I may have said that to him back in the day.) 😜

 

This guy is completely ridiculous. First, he never stops talking about the Tahara factory. It's like he has a deal they pay him every time he says their name. Second, he uses that stupid gap measuring tool but fails to mention the apron separation. Then he keeps saying it'll be a collector's car. No Lexus other than the LFA has ever been a collector's car. Even the original LS isn't a collector's car. What a stupid guy, I'm tired of him.

 

Everybody seems to think their car is gonna be a collector's car these days.

 

^^ On that, we do agree. Initially, i liked him but after a few videos, i observed the same thing as you pointed out and never watched him since, nor do put any weight on what he says...

I stopped watching after his goodbye vid. He complained about the blue (back then), he had a meltdown over the O2 sensor, and his overall narrative was the car was a mistake. Now he, like the other YouTubers, have made a 180.

 

It was an OK video, but no big deal. He regrets selling it, maybe? I don't care. I don't regret my car purchases as I'm not someone trying to be a "pro car reviewer" guy on youtube.

Could the IS 500 be a collectible someday? Absolutely! Will it? Only time will tell. Quite likely but at what level of possible appreciation, I don't know. Nearly every car goes through a cycle of depreciation.

My Supra is a collectible now. When I bought it I didn't buy it for the collectible factor, I bought it because I like it! It just happened to become the darling of some movies and video games. The IS 500 is not likely to get that popularity bump in pop culture.

Buy what you like is always my recommendation, not what others think you should like.

 

Lol he's like that sam guy that got rid of his 500 cuz he keeps complaining about it and then got another one as tester and then he missed it.. but this asian dude's review suck, yet another wannabe youtube car reviewer/journalist, I don't know why there are so many crappy Canadian youtuber car journalist/reviewer, him, sam and all these random dude that call themselves car reviewers/journalist.

 

If someone always had their sights set on a GX460 then not sure why you'd even contemplate an IS500. These two vehicles could not be any more different.

 

But he's an engineer! He has tools to detect paint thickness and panel gaps so he'd never make that mistake, right?

The funny/sad thing is all the IS 500 videos I have watched I have added zero youtubers to my subscriptions beyond the ones I already watch. None are perfect but most are very amateur hour.

 

Speaking from experience, I recommend owning both
