In Mexico, on a race track of course, the car will do 125-130 mph in 4th gear. It shifted to 5th and I let off at 130 mph. It doesn't take long

Very good, I will go with that. I am thinking the screenshot is likely a downshift from a straightaway into a turn so as to carry the speed out of the turn, hence the hugh rpm.

Default I absolutely love this color

Just admiring GW.

Other than the chipped paint on the hood and the severely gouged wheel, it looks great.

It can look pretty one dimensional in the shade, but every time I see it in the sun or under fluorescent lighting I'm seriously impressed. Such a beautiful color. That video does a great job showing off the shift.

Stumbled across this wonderful video and I might watch it again later just for fun. Amazing job it seems
on the video production and huge credit to YouTuber @Detail-Driven!!

Noticed the B-Team reviewers are finally getting their hands on the IS 500. More content for us!

It is always nice to see a IS 500 video but I was a bit disappointed from this one because it is really not a fair competition and really has no purpose IMO. I understand they all have V8 but still, totally different beasts and if you recall, some of the V8 in the 1980s would pump out 160 HP, so because it's a V8, doesn't mean it should be treated as equal. I feel this video focuses on something the 500 is never designed/intended for, which is straight line acceleration. This is a sporty sedan with about 160HP extra for those who wanted a bit more than the 350.

I would agree, a non hellcat Charger would be the only similar vehicle in terms of drivetrain but it's huge compared to the IS platform. The CTS-V, err I mean CT5-V Blackwing ultra mega uber track edition is also a very large car and arguably the best car in terms of drivetrain and handling here but it's 50% more in price at sticker where I live. I don't trust GM reliability but I feel better about it versus Dodgey reputation.

Without a doubt, YouTube has such high quality auto content these days I really don’t need cable. My personal favorites:

Hagerty / Jason Cammisa, Donut Media, Throttle House. I also really enjoy The Straight Pipes, I discovered them back when Jakub has his ISF.

I stumbled across this video recently. On the other end of the spectrum, you've got amateur videographers just filming stuff. Nice to see that.

Same, I enjoy straight pipes for the energy and entertainment, they're great hype men. Savage geese if I want someone who has a calm conversational and informative style. Throttle house for banter/information provided in a fun way, and Hagerty/Cammisa for high production and entertainment from a professional driver. I've kinda stopped watching the other reviewers, nothing against them it's just a style preference.

Fully agreed. Horsepower is king and always wins in the end. So when you throw out there a machine making 800 horsepower to compete against, I think the 500 actually made a respectful appearance, especially on the launch and a bit around the track, even though, as you say, it wasn't designed and built specifically for this purpose.
