I can only get those when the stocks are perfect, I’m gonna switch over next summer with Michelins so I can do that every time

I'm leaning towards the Pilot Sport All Seasons. We get large temperature swings during the fall and spring. It was 3 degrees Celsius this morning but it's supposed to be 26 this afternoon.

 

^im debating that also. in missouri we can get crazy temp swings. freezing in the morning and then close to 70 by afternoon.
i would prob still run a dedicated winter tire though

 

Just picked up the AS4s. Haven't really driven them hard, but I like them so far.

 

Interesting development...

Trying to get a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4's before temps drop. Sam's club gave me a quote in $1,500 range. TireRack is showing front tires out of stock for the next month or so. Discount Tire is around $1,160 WITH the optional 3 year tire insurance.

The shocker though, is my Lexus dealer coming in with a quote for $1,141 for 4 tires + $129 to install. Basically, the lowest price I've seen so far is from a Lexus dealer! Granted, thats without the optional tire insurance that raised my Discount Tire price by a bit. I didn't even have to do any arm twisting to get them to match an outside price.

Now, if I can just get someone to sell me some road hazard insurance for the tires. I called a bunch of places and I can't seem to find an aftermarket insurance similar to road hazard protection being sold with new tires by TireRack and Discount Tire. Is there such a thing?

I guess in the absence of one, I could always mail my Discount Tire order to my Lexus dealer and have them install the tires for $129. That's about market price for what it costs to install 4 tires and I would feel a lot better about Lexus doing it in the event that my brand new wheels get a bit banged up.

 

Being in central Texas we have had very little rain this summer. I will say that being in Chicago and getting rain while in the 60's I can confirm these stock Bridgestone S001L tires suck in the rain. From a dead stop these tires will start to spin on part throttle and then the traction control will kick in. My wife's IS 350 with Continental all season tires and my Supra with "Extreme" Performance 200 wear Yokohama A052 track day tires do far better in the rain from a stop. Michelin's PS4S can't come soon enough.

 

Just a heads up.

TireRack and now Discount Tire had mentioned that Michelin Pilot A/S 4's in 235/40ZR19 (front) are out of stock. There is a possibility of getting inventory directly from Michelin, but that will pull delivery times out to about 2 weeks instead of 2-3 days.

 

All tires installed at a Lexus dealer bring 24 month road hazard warranty. So you’ll be good!

 

Could that be dealer specific? I asked the parts person and service managed about that and they said no. Also, it doesn't seem they offer one at extra cost. Only their usual wheel/tire protection plan that's close to 1k.

I see where you got that from... There is some wording about "eligible tires". Not sure how I would check if mine are eligible. The 2 people I spoke with earlier were not even aware of this.

As you get further along and pick the vehicle it’ll tell you on the tires if they have 24 month warranty.

 

Maybe I'm missing something... Again, pretty ambiguous. Let me do the whole thing.

 

Hmm I see what you’re saying. I’d ask a more experience service advisor or even a service manager tbh. I’ve always heard and been told that it’s included so I’m not sure why your dealer is telling you no.

 

OEM or OE approved tires only. Apparently, A/S 4's don't quality for road hazard. S 4's do strangely. This may be dealer dependent.

I ended up buying a set from Discount Tire with 3 year road hazard and mailing them to my dealer for same $$.
