I looked on Tirerack and it seems like PS4S and Continental's new ExtremeContact Sport 02 are the best choices to go with (for those of us in moderate/warm weather) Haven't seen any full reviews of the Conti's but could be a good choice.

Of course, if you want to dial up to full monty Extreme Summer category and can get Cup 2s or Yoko Advan Neova AD09s. I can't believe we can get CUP 2s on a Lexus Sedan

I would STRONGLY recommend against the Extreme Summer tires unless you're on amazing roads. The Corvette came with Pilot Super Sports, one step down from Cup tires, and they sucked up every pebble in the road and threw them everywhere. I would not buy them again no matter how good the traction, not worth all the rock chips in my paint.

Hey does anybody save vehicles under their account for the Tire Rack website? I tried saving my 2023 IS 500 but it does not stick. I even tried a 2022 IS 500 with the same results. Meanwhile I could add any other vehicle I wanted without issue. I was curious if anyone tried this feature?

Mine was saved on there since I got the car but won't stick anymore.

I thought Pilot Sport 4 S would be the successor to the Super Sport? I highly recommend them. Yes, they are grippy, but very much daily driver material, too.

Agreed. I've run extreme summers on a few of my cars and they're wild overkill that come with negative characteristics that make them worse for daily use.

If they fling rocks like the Super Sports then I will be skipping those later this year. Our roads are garbage and full of gravel and I can't put my car or my emotions through the damage.

Ew. Fair enough.

I thought the Extreme Performance category was different, mainly... Like, Cup 2 versus PS4S.

You're gonna have a hard time finding a tire that's sticky enough to handle the power but not sticky enough to fling rocks.

I have Yokohama Advan A052's on my Supra currently. They pick up all the little pebbles, etc. Fortunately that is only an issue in residental neighborhoods so you would be driving slowly anyway. My paint looks great. Before that I ran the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R another extreme performance tire. I will say that for the Supra the difference in performance/headroom I have with the Extreme Performance Class over Max Performance was pretty big. That gap may have narrowed with newer tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S which I have never tried on my cars yet but I can tell you I ran many years ago the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position and the Michelin Pilot Super Sport and the current crop of extremes are so far and away ahead of those old max performance tires from the past. I have had a good amount of tires on the Supra in the 21 years I have owned it.

The PS4S tires will pick up their share of rocks too. This is why I had the area right behind the rear tires PPF’ed. Learned that lesson with my previous iS.

Extreme Summer tires are different. More traction, less tread, softer tread... I can't have max performance on our roads, extreme performance is out of the question.

My Super Sports would pick up rocks with the front tires too and fling them down the side of the vehicle. It only took once to hear that noise to install rock guards asap.

As another aside, the most punctures I've ever had were with the Super Sports too. Replacing those at over $500 a tire got really F'ing old and fast. The fronts would kick up stuff then the rears would get the puncture every damn time.

I put Michelin Pilot AS tires on the Vette, solved the rock problem, and still kept a 0-60 of 4 seconds while losing nothing in the corners. I couldn't drive that car at the limits so tires didn't impact cornering at all for me. Plus it was a lot safer to DD that car during Winter with tires that didn't turn to ice skates below 60 degrees.

$1686 for the whole set. You including installation? That's more than Tire Rack will charge.

Also, if you seriously want to sell these, besides lowering your price, I also would encourage you to post in the Marketplace. For sale ads are not allowed in the discussion forums.
