Yep.

My thinking was by telling my first local dealer about these guys that I could make a bid on the atomic silver (still a gorgeous color) and get them to come down to the same price of 71k, have them throw in ceramic instead of clear coat paint protection, throw in the 2 years of free additional maintenance they offered, and the window tints they offered. Then I'd be paying the same thing as out of state, but trading for my 2nd choice color and better add-ons.

Edit: Ok I just contacted a new local dealer with no mark ups and no add ons. But the list is 30 people long.

Well, at least the far away one is exactly the combo you want - It is a tough call man - I mean the dealer away is an inconvenience but has the exact color you want. The one local MAY NOT meet the deal anyway and then you could regret it in a while....I don't want to influence you too much....Personally I would lean toward the USB but that is just me

I would and if local dealer goes down to 4k, take the deal. Be done and enjoy. As your aware, it's what I did.

Northern or Southern?

Since it's the exact combo you want, not much over msrp but at least you get some things for it... I'd take it amd eat the shipping or flight cost. Who knows how long you'd have to wait to get the exact combo you want. And if you fly and drive, maybe you can make a small family road trip put if it too and have fun

You guys are right, I need to see what the total cost is after delivery. I'll keep you posted. I could fly out there and drive it back but that would instantly put 1000 miles on the car, cost a plane ticket, and a few days of PTO. Not terrible but not ideal either.

As far as the clear coat treatment, I'm just not sure how much protection it provides. I mentioned doing ceramic instead and they said that's extra. It's really hard to negotiate when you're not in person. :( Then as far as the tech prep or whatever they call it, that seems non-negotiable. You need them to put the car into the right mode as far as they explained it to me.

I havent told my local dealership that I'm working with these guys. Not ready to betray their trust yet, and I feel like if they did a swap anyway, my local dealership would still slap on the $6200 add-ons to the USB in the end.

Definitely go for the exact one that you want . In two years you won't remember the flight out there, the drive back or the lost PTO days. Otherwise you will be reminded every day that you compromised on a rather large expenditure.

Got some more details. Shipping cost is $2400 so I would probably pick it up myself.

Interestingly they need a $1000 non-refundable deposit to put my name on it. Non-refundable that is unless the car comes damaged. I guess the law is different in CA? Here they're fully refundable for any reason. I'm holding off for now because this makes me very nervous.

I an not a lawyer but non refundable seems weird...

It's just to make sure you actually get it and don't back out but if you do they get something for "holding it." It still goes towards your down payment as long as you don't back out. Lexus of Tampa Bay wanted to do a 5k non refundable

I may be surrounded by dealers that are slapping markups on their cars, but deposits are one thing I am happy that I am not dealing with. You seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place right now.

it makes sense but I question the legality of it...but if the op is serious and wants the car, I doubt t he would back out...I would say just do it and enjoy it and dont over think it...1900 is not that huge of a deal and see if you get other goodies in lieu :) keep us posted but you will make some envious.

I agree with others though, for the one you really wanted...

Every video on the IS500 has the reviewer sporting a huge grin for pretty much the entire time they are driving the car. These sounds are simply irreplaceable. And I don't give two hoots if a Tesla Plaid can beat me off the line . His battery will die in 15 minutes if he does that repeatedly from red light to red light. I'd rather listen to the roar of the V8 even if takes a turtle crawling, measly 4.4 seconds to reach 60 mph (which of course is still faster than 99% of all vehicles on the road today).

Of course, if Lexus comes out with an electric IS that looks anything close to this, of course, I'll jump on it. But for now, let my ears enjoy while we still can.

My feeling exactly, I grew up with V8s and the sound is in my soul. I’ll take the linear power-build over the insanely fast electric boost any day.

The new IS EV is stunning, but Tony needs that sound. 😜

Yeah, I'm also hesitant since it's a long distance transaction with rules I'm not familiar with. I can't just go knocking on their office door if I felt I was cheated or something.
