Thanks. I have an LX to use in the snow. I plan to drive the IS 500 when it's dry but will install AS tires for the cold weather.

i was thinking of doing those instead of the michelin's. glad to know you're getting decent mileage out of them so far.

Overall I like the Continentals. While I think the Michelins feel a little more direct in the steering, the Continentals are far better than the stock tires in basically every way and are quieter than the Michelins. I think they suit this car well.

I may end up doing rear tires before the fronts, which has never happened on any other car I've owned.

I am referring to the Pilot Sport 4S, which is what I'd consider to be the direct competitor to the Extreme Contact Sport 02.

It genuinely blows my mind how quickly this car eats tires in such an inefficient way lol. But other than that I love this car to death! haha!

A lot of it has to do with the curb weight. The dealership told me I should get new tires at 8k miles because the tread depth measurements on the inside and outside were low. I live in a desert where it doesn't rain often so I over-inflated them to get the middle wear to even out and still have them at 13k miles, but will be getting new tires soon.

Interesting.

I believe, and I am sure I will be crucified for saying this, but the IS models are not as well designed as they should be. I am not bashing Toyota/Lexus since the brand is known for fantastic reliability and solid build quality, but, the IS models do have some serious shortcomings such as the premature tire wear and uneven tire tread issue. Similar to how the IS500 in particular has the sagging front bumper problem that is well known at this point but essentially ignored by Lexus.

This isn't a heavy car not a "high horsepower" car at all. To have such early tire wear, far worse than most factory Mustangs and Hellcats and Corvettes, is rather odd to me.

I got ~22k on my OEM tires. Switched to Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 this week and they are great.

Wow great miles compared to everyone else. What tire pressure you run and your driving style?

A new set of Michelin PS4S’s every 15K miles. It was the same with my ‘06 & ‘16 IS350s. If I’m not smelling rubber when I get home, then I didn’t go on a drive.

That seems about right - at least for my rear tires. I got about 14k-ish out of the Continentals in the rear. The fronts were still at about 7/32" - perfectly fine for another year or 10k+ miles, I'd guess.

The original tires had inner edge wear at the front after just 8k miles.

I tried the rears-only replacement once with the ‘06. At Mexico speeds the fronts felt like skis compared to the rears. Scared the crap out of me; so from that point on, all tires get replaced at the same time. 😂
