Android Auto not working
I tried the motorola whatever AA dongle name. Total garbage.
I'm on Android and unfortunately I can't test it with CarPlay. You can switch phones and set a preferred/default connection, but I don't think there's a reliable way to detect which phone is closest to the receiver.
Not 100% sure, but you might also need to check the car's infotainment menu and manually switch to CarPlay. So the hurdle in switching between the AA and CP is probably with the infotainment system, not the device.

tired of having to either plugin my phone, or manually start Tidal playback to get music going. does the wifi module automatically start playing the music?? My 2023 Sequoia has no issue with my phone. it automatically plays and I dont have to do anything.....
I have this one. Never fails, or drops the connection:

enjoying one's music. No mess, or fuss...just have your CD "purse" full of all your favs!! LOL!! Oh...you gave them all away??
I have all my original CD's. Stored away. NOW I can get them out....YAY! Plus I do use Sirius/XM...have for many yrs. Glad Lexus
still offers it. Many are slowly dropping off as std. on new cars. And, I have music "on a stick!" Works pretty well too. Quick, easy.
Old school...sure, but, it all works. And heck...we still get a spare!! Nothing bad about that either. Lexus IS 500 F Sport...old school,
with some updates. Cool car...for me especially!
Have fun guys. But, to me, music through phones is a pain in many cars it seems. I know...I'm older...but, that can be a good thing..
I think...LOL!
^^ I am only 54 but I listen to my music through a USB stick too - I have all my folders categorised and such. I will listen to the odd CDs once in a while too but CrazyCarGuy will appreciate this being an Acura guy, I used to love the 5.1 Dolby audio disc in my ELS system, now THAT was quality!! Sadly, people preferred convenience over quality and the format died. I have replicated my stick on my phone and when I just go to town and park and watch traffic (I know, small rural Canada), I will play my music from my phone to one of my little Ultimate Ear speaker as I eat my timbits, drink my tea and check out the traffic and activities

improved over the years. The 23 speaker sound system in the MDX Type S I had was amazing. Many don't realize just how good the ELS
system is. Elliott Scheiner, the famous music producer for well known artists had worked for Acura along with Panasonic to maximize the
speaker/sound set up within the Acura cars. Surround sound....et al......the resulting ELS system can match up with the best. He was first
hired by Acura in 2004. He refined the system over the years. He did it in his recording studio to "match" the sounds he created for
music artists. Now Acura is switching over to Bang and Olufsen.and honestly it is NOT as good. But, after 21 years I'm sure Elliott was worn out
with that contract. Or Acura wanted to save $$......??? My son is 1 year older than you!! LOL! But, I'm not as "good" as I once was, but, I'm
as good once as I ever was!! LOL!!!!!

Well, as far as I know, wi-fi doesn't have anything to do with this. I think the auto-playback of music should be controlled through your phone, but I am an Android user and can't speak to how well an iPhone works in our cars.
I would agree - the Motorola MA1 is garbage. It kept dropping on me when I drove the toll roads. I thought it was coincidence, but after some digging I found out it's a real thing.
I then tried the below link from Amazon. It worked so much better, but as others have stated the USB plugs in this car are touchy. So, because of the way the adapter plugs in, every once in a while I would lose connection over a bump, fast turn, etc.
Rexing just came out with one. I prefer the way it plugs into the USB port. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and the only issue as of today is there are random instances when I press the 'track forward' button on the steering wheel the screen moves to the next track but the song takes 30 seconds or so to skip. It is weird and only happened twice on the same day. Clearing the cache and restarting seemed to have fixed the issue since then.
All three worked with the touchpad, when they actually were conncted/working.

It was the cable! I bought this one off Amazon, plugged it in and it worked right away.

I also bought the Motorola Android Auto wireless adapter and it's been working great so far.
Thanks everyone for the help and discussion!
