Exhaust Options and Combinations Masterthread

I know we have the large, stickied exhaust thread but that can be a bit unwieldy to find information in. The idea of this thread is to have information on what exhausts are available, their relative loudness and how they pair with different midpipes in one place.

Loudness:

I appreciate that loudness is subjective. If there is a disagreement on the classification of an exhaust, it'll be labeled the highest rating with the disagreement noted.

Quiet
Medium
Loud
Very Loud

Exhaust Manufacturers:

Apexi
Ark
Borla
EXART
GThaus
LEMS
Novel
Remark
Revel
RR Racing
Tom's (can use both IS500 and RCF version)
Suruga Speed
ZEE'S

Loudness When Paired With Non-Resonated Midpipe:

Apexi
Borla
GThaus (valved so variable)

Revel
RR Racing (valved so variable)
Tom's

Loudness When Paired With Resonated Midpipe:

Apexi
Borla
GThaus (valved so variable)

Revel
RR Racing (valved so variable)
Tom's

Good thread. Definitely will be helpful.

Our #1 most popular combination is the Borla axle back with resonated apexi midpipe, followed by a full GTHAUS setup, and then a non-resonated only midpipe for a stock axle back.

If anybody has experience with the systems or knows of others, I can add that info. I know nothing about the Novel and Ark setups.

Other Brands: (except for Remark, the below JDM brands are basically made to order)
- LEMS: Titanium axle-back there's YT video which sounds like little bit louder than stock
- Suruga Speed: famous for the their loop pfs exhaust, makes axle-back and mid-pipe but need a fancy exhaust shop to install the mid-pipe cuz it requires cutting oem mid-pipe and weld on theirs. They are expensive but don't know how loud or quiet they are, there's video on their YT channel
- EXART: they have valved and non-valved axle-back, also makes resonated mid-pipe, don't know how loud, video is on YT
- Remark: makes axle back and mid-pipe, someone on here have the axle-back, so ask them how loud
- ZEE's: makes axle back and mid-pipe, someone on here have the axle-back, so ask them how loud

most RC-F and RC350 axle back should fit IS500

Thanks for starting this! Has anyone here paired the Apexi Resonated midpipe with the GTHaus axle? Videos appreciated!

i wish Rowen was making a system for the 500. i wonder if the rcf version would fit

RRRacing Jul 28, 2025 07:04 AM

The RR Racing Bazooka is a resonated midpipe. There is not a Non-Res option

technically all RC-F axle-back fits, it's just a matter if the tips clears the bumper and how far it sticks out or in. RC-F Axle-back opens up to a ton of options, including Blitz, R1-Titan and many more

going do some more research.
I have the zees which sounds great, but one side was damaged in my parking garage by someone. I’m checking if I can get just one muffler, but if not I will prob change up the system

Dumb question, but is “quiet” louder than stock?

I haven't heard any of these in person but from all my research I'd say yes these are all going to be louder than stock. It seems the closest to stock you can get is the Novel with the valves closed from the clips and first hand accounts I've seen.

I had the APEXi full resonated system it’s louder than stock but not in the loud category at all.
too quiet for me so I swapped the ApexI axle back for the Borla and it’s much better.

LC500 exhaust..???

The LC500 exhaust sure sounds better than the IS500. Anyone know if the LC mufflers...and/or..???...can be used on the IS500??

If I am not mistaken, the LC500 also has a valved exhaust stock. I'm sure there is other tuning from the factory that makes it louder.
