Im importing via an agency, that’s great you have the tools haha. I’m actually thinking of investing in some jacks and stands so I can do the servicing myself 😂, however i have literally zero car tools.
I’m pretty sure I’ve called up all the Lexus dealships in Melbourne and they said the same thing, but I’ll call Berwick again to make sure. The reason I want to take them to the dealership solely for the digital logging of car services. I’m not sure 3rd party mechanics can do them?
2023 incognito, triple beam, mark levinson, sunroof, 5k odo. I also noticed some of them got blue tip exhaust. After comparing underneath photos, the blue tip ones have bigger muffler. Mine comes with orange caliber. I wonder if the ones without blue tip sound louder as the muffler is about half the size.

Bluetip Default
mines similar spec but white. The blue tipped exhaust are the Tom's Racing aftermarket axle back system, mine coming with this. Did you use a Melbourne based importer?

I think it’s so cool the cars are finally available for the Australian market. I understand they’re used; but c’mon, this architecture is built like a tank! 😎
I’m surprised the dealerships will not work on them, the original engine has been around since ‘08 and the transmission is straight out of the RCF. Odd.
I find it weird too that Lexus Australia doesn't want them in their workshops whereas Lexus New Zealand are willing to give them a warranty as long as the car is less than 10000kms and less than10 yrs old and will honor the warranty all the way till it's 10th birthday as long as you service it yearly in the dealership. So in reality they will give it a 10 yr warranty!! The IS 500 is an import to both these countries, so really no excuse Australia.
No kidding! Do you have a shop to reprogram/reset the infotainment to English? Unless you speak Japanese, then there’s no need. 😎
I'm told you can change to English through the menu, the only thing that won't work is the radio as the Japanese have a very short band of frequency 85hz to 90hz where as the rest of as have 88hz to 108hz. You can either install a frequency extender or just use car play or android auto to listen to the radio. I'm not fussed i dont listen to the radio
You would know much better than me but mid and full size V8's sold well there. Ford Falcon, Holden Commodore etc. The IS 500 would have sold well.
I posted in another thread that the IS 500 was grudgingly made by Lexus Japan because Lexus USA execs were so insistent on it. We're pretty lucky this thing even exists.

Well they did and didn't, towards the end they didn't do so well and there was a lot of government handouts to keep the companies afloat. Now that they're gone they are in demand and a lot are getting stolen cos there a demand for them overseas and the black market. It's a shame as it really wasn't the Australian arm of the companies that decided to shut down, but the head office in the states. Either way I'm still excited about the IS500!
