Default IS500 cat conv thieves, stolen?

Saw this on the socal news. Our cars are pretty rare, so someone either stole/"borrowed" an IS500 or they're paying their car note with the proceeds...

This is very common for a few years now as the converters contain PGM metals - very expensive. They mostly go after trucks and SUVs' with high ground clearance and the converters in those contain a higher amount of PGM metals compared to converters in smaller vehicles. He should have done a burnout upon escape since he was already being filmed anyways, and would make for more dramatic effect.
