To me, this is one of those highly profitable add ons, like “Choke and croak” insurance. When you need it, they won’t pay. If you do get them to pay, it’s after a battle. What is your time worth?
I am a fan of roadside assistance for tires, not for the roadside, but replacement and patching policies.
I have the black BBS on my 2024 and I did not buy the wheel plan or any other extra warranty insurance, this is a big profit item for the dealership and any other retailer that trys to sell you a warranty plan. The odds are if you do need a reapair the repair will be less than the cost of the warranty according to consumer reports.
In my experience of getting the wheel and tire plan, it was very worth it. I didn't have to buy new tires for 5 years and it basically paid for itself. I did come in for some rim touch ups once or twice too. That can be a bit harder because my dealer only had 1 rim guy and he was only in 1 or 2 days a week. I'm pretty sure when I did the math last that I actually got more $ worth in tires & rim repairs than the plan cost in total. It's also nice to not have to worry as much about the wear and tear of your tires knowing you can just get a new one covered under the plan. Go ahead and make that turn a little fast. It's what you have the plan for. I recommend it heavily.

The whole wheel and tire thing is a real can of worms. Honestly I would say that it is NOT worth it. Mainly because of the hassle with trying to get them to pay out. And one warranty that X Lexus dealer sells, may or WILL not be honored by Y Lexus dealer. It's a rip off and if we had to do it all over again, we wouldn't bother.
We have had one or two minor "curb rash" repairs done under the wheel warranty on our 2023 IS500 and the process to get the repair done is very very convoluted and entails us paying for the repair out of pocket, then getting reimbursed at a later date after going through this whole rigamarole. This is because we purchased the wheel/tire warranty package at a Lexus dealership in Pennsylvania (where we got the car), and our local Lexus dealer does not honor it. We thought that any wheel/tire warranty sold by a Lexus dealer would be honored automatically by any Lexus dealer. That is not the case. Individual dealers can pick and choose which warranty company they want to sell/work with.
Interesting, the Infiniti dealership right next door to our local Lexus dealership (as in like 50 yards away) DOES honor the Pennsylvania Lexus dealer's wheel/tire warranty company -- and the Infiniti dealer IS OWNED BY THE SAME DEALER GROUP AS THE LEXUS DEALER NEXT DOOR (who won't honor said warranty company). Go figure.
The amount of phone calls, paperwork and TIME required to submit a warranty claim for a $150 curb rash repair is not worth it, especially as we have to pay the $150 up front, out of pocket, THEN apply to the warranty company for reimbursement. And that takes many weeks to actually get the check from the warranty company. Just not worth it.

I got the actual contract and it specifically cover cosmetic damage with no exclusion whatsoever about a wheel/tire holding air. Any tires are covered, not just oem. Also got them down to $1,600. No deductible.
Listen, one flat tire where the rim touches the pavement or a careless valet would cost me way more than the warranty and I’m good for 5 years.
You got ALL OF THAT for $1600? Amzaing. I got so ripped off and will now be canceling my contract. Embarrassed to say how much they got me for.
Picking up my 25 IS500 tomorrow. After seeing the wheels I had an immediate fear of damage to the wheels. The plan, for $2,000 includes:
- wheel replacement or repair for any damage including curb damage, etc
- tire replacement due to road damage or non repairable puncture
- key fob replacement
- ding repairs
- windshield chip repair (not full large cracks)
- this is for 5 years and unlimited miles with no deductible
Honestly, I think this is a good deal. A single wheel replacement would cost more than this.
Thoughts?
Thank you for posting as I just bought my 2025 IS350 F-SPORT and as I mentioned to another member, your deal is not bad at all. I didn't realize dealerships could write their own contracts for this. I paid so much more and will be canceling my contract. Good thing I have 30 days.
My wheel & tire package was ~ $800 and has already paid for itself fixing curb rash and blown sidewall. I’d definitely do it again. But would never buy it for a truck/SUV unless the tires were super low profile.
$2500 to cover door dings, BBS wheels, and a lost key fob or two sounds well worth it. If only so you don’t have to live with looking at a scratch in the paint or scuffed up rims.
You’re wasting your money. If you want tire warranty, go to Discount Tire and get one for all 4 tires for the cost of 1/2 a one tire.
To cover the rim, ask your car insurance what they would charge.
Anything with the dealer is too expensive

and they’re trash. I’d just get mad each time I put on new tires
Dunlop Conquest Sport A/S are trash? Seem like they're alright tires to me. They're nothing nice to gloat about, but since I'm in FL I don't need to worry about cold weather or anything. They've been fine.

I've never heard of those tires. I think Dave was referring to the Bridgestone Potenza S001L, which is the original-equipment tire.
