Quote: I really [really] wanted to avoid a $1+k expense but there was no way around it. I just ordered a set of the Michelin PS4s. I've been noticing the stock tires breaking traction almost all the time now when the temps dropped below 40F here, even with the smallest amount of acceleration. Yesterday with rain, the tires scared the crap out of me accelerating while turning - twice almost fishtailing with minimal acceleration. I've actually brought out my Z4 from winter hibernation (also rear-drive but with all-season high-perf tires) to drive until the tires arrive. I know some of you have had no issues driving on the stock summer tires in the winter, and I'm sure I can do it, but it's not worth the risk at all, especially as temps continue to drop.
Now that my AS4s are nice and broken in, they're significantly better traction in the wet and dry than the stock tires. I'm super happy with them. When traction control kicks in under full throttle the car is a lot more predictable now too. I NEVER used to push the car on the old tires, it was like trying to drive on a knife's edge. Now I feel a lot more confident keeping the car pointed straight.

Lexus definitely needed better tires from the start!

When I took mine out last winter during low temps it would break traction with the mildest acceleration. Caught me completely off-guard once going on an on-ramp and nearly lost the rear end. Rest of the winter I essentially babied it when I took it out (which isn't all that fun. LOL). These tires are simply not suited for ow temperature weather, and I question their qualification as a summer tire as well. Clearly, had they not had a good contract in place with Japanese owned Bridgestone, I'm sure Lexus would have put the PS4's on as stock tires.

I can't wait to see how much the traction improves with the Michelin's. I don't know how Lexus thought it was a good idea to only offer summer tires. Even BMW gives you the option between all-season and summer tires for their M or M-Performance cars.

Any of you kept the Bridgestones around for just the summer? Not sure if it's worth keeping and swapping every summer to extend the life of the Michelins. Technically will probably cost me the same at the end with a ~$250 annual labor to swap and re-balance.

Quote: To clarify, did you buy Summer or all seasons? I couldn’t tell if ‘PS4s’ as written was the possessive, plural ‘all-seasons’, or Summer with a lowercase ‘s’.
Sorry, it's all All-Season PS4s.

Sorry, it's all All-Season PS4s.
Yea I wish Lexus put a decent all season on this car from the factory. Gives your customers so much more flexibility.

I got 9,500 miles out of my Bridgestones. I wasn't that impressed with them even when it was hot and humid. They're ok at best. I'm telling my guy to just toss them.

I just ordered my PS4 All seasons. They arrive Tuesday 11/26 at my guys shop. Hoping I can get them on Wednesday as it appears there's some cold and wintry weather headed here soon. I used to do the Winter/Summer tire swap out on my old G37 but it got old. I live just outside Philadelphia near the airport and our Winters are just not harsh enough to do that anymore. The Michelin all seasons are more than enough to deal with our occasional nuisance snow storms. Looking forward to improved traction, handling etc too.

Michelin's went on the car last Thursday and they're night and day better than the stock tires. I haven't had a chance though to put them through the wringer because car is at the dealership since Friday getting the front rotors replaced under warranty (lots of vibration while braking).

Picked up the car on Saturday (with all 4 rotors replaced under warranty) and driving the past 2 days in sub-zero weather, I LOVE the Michelins. They never broke a single traction even under hard acceleration. I feel 10000% more confident in driving the car now during the winter (except for snow...obviously). I've always been a Continental man, but I'm sold on Michelins for all my cars moving forward.

That is great! It's a shame they didn't put better tires on from the factory.

Just curious, anyone suggest moving to Florida? We don’t have winter or winter tires.
Just sayin'

You have a weeks advance notice! Unlike them tornado things. Also, you don’t have to shovel rain.

I lived in Houston and experienced the 40-50 inches of rain that was Harvey in 2017. It's a miracle my area didn't flood. I'll never live in the Hurricane coast again. Besides too dang humid when it's not busy being Hurricaned.

That Harvey thing was strange and IMO, that’s an engineering failure on the part of the city during expansion. I like Houston.
