So apparently Texas is doing emission testing in certain county for 2025 moving forward and I happen to be in one of them. My car is currently running an APEX'I midpipe which does not have cats on them. From what I heard is that as long as I don't get the check engine light on the dash then I should be chilling for the emission testing. If someone can verified this for me would be helpful. I still have my OEM midpipe just in case I should slap it back on for testing.
for what its worth, they do something similar in WI with select (populated) counties requiring emissions... but since its OBD2 only they just plug in & scan for codes (no more running the car like OBD1's were required)... not entirely sure how TX is implementing this but if its anything like WI, if you're code free you will be fine. Surprising of all the states to implement this, TX would have been 50th on my list lol

I wonder if they'll do a visual inspection for the secondary cats? Thats been my hesitation. Might be me overthinking.

Texas talks a lot of trash when it comes to clean energy and stuff but it's actually the leading state when it comes to wind and solar power .
As others have said, if they only check for codes, you'll be ok but if they actually check the exhaust and you don't have your cats, you won't pass. The stock mid-pipes are just mid-pipes with resonators on them and the actual cats are forward of them... I'm I correct? With the APEX all you did was remove the resonators so should be ok?

As far as the IS500 mid pipe - It contains the secondary set of catalytic converters, the primary set is part of the header assembly. Lexus only measures the exhaust gases before and aft of the primary set of cats. There is no measurement of the secondary set, so you won't get a CEL if the secondary set is removed.
On the wind and solar front:
