Dealer wheel damage

I noticed damage to my two front wheels after a service. I brought it to the dealers attention and they offered to repaint the wheels without hassle. But, I am unsure how well the paint will match and the long term quality. Considering pushing for replacements but not sure if I’m going overboard. Curious if anyone else has had their wheels repaired with good results.

^^ Some sloppy technician damaged them using the impact gun. Personally, I would fight to get new ones although I suspect they won't. I don't care what people say, NOTHING beats an original finish no matter how good the shop claim they can be in repairing.

Agree with wthrman2. In addition to what he said, if you really want to get new rims (which I believe you deserve for this) you will need to get Lexus involved. The Dealer will not want to go beyond repainting. Go up the food chain at the Dealer and see what happens; then, involve Lexus.

That's really disappointing especially for a Lexus dealer. If it was one wheel and one area of damage I might be ok with a repair, but two wheels with multiple areas of damage no way, I would push hard for replacements.

requested replacements from the dealer and was met with huge resistance. I’ve opened a ticket at Lexus, so we’ll see where it goes..

I was involved in an accident with my Vector Blue IS500 and the Authorized Lexus Collision Center attempted to repaint my wheel to color match the rest but couldn’t match the OEM BBS color. They eventually ordered a new rim.

THIS ^^ the OEM BBS isn't 100% black, it actually has a slight blue tint that is noticeable in direct sunlight. It is an incredibly hard color to replicate. I had one wheel repaired thanks to a pothole and multiple wheel shops told me they can't 100% match it, but that they'd blend in the best they could. Since the damage was at the outer most top edge of the wheel lip, I really can't tell much of a color difference.

In OPs case, this repair would require a larger more noticeable area to be resprayed; so depending on the repair skill, it may be noticeable where the re-spray was done.

Lexus dealership service is a complete joke. Can't get the right oil and can't even operate a impact wrench.

Seriously. I thought I’d get better service and attention to detail when I dropped off my IS500 at the Authorized Lexus Collision Center and they missed multiple issues that I found when I was going through the car on the final inspection day.

the paint wasn’t denibed throughly and some parts were loose and dirty. Mind you the wheel colors didn’t even match and they only noticed after I mentioned it.

That's awful. Special attention, nah, its just a job to them.

Yup. Paint Nibs, Fish eyes on the clear coat, and some loose plastic trims.

The car only has 300 miles and I’m very OCD. The guy looked surprised when I brought a small flashlight with me during the inspection.

They addressed all the issues I pointed out to them but in the process someone nicked the side mirror and there’s no ETA on the part at the moment. I’m assuming this is due to the fact that the 2024 model year has a different color mirror.

Oooof my man, I can feel your pain from here. It looks like almost every single wheel nut has some damage around it, you only circled the major ones. As others have mentioned, I can't believe a dealership does that kind of work, almost like they realized it damages the rim and just kept on going. Epic fail.

Again as others mentioned - I would definitely call and push on Lexus corporate to get involved because that dealership is going to push back hard even though they should be replacing those wheels, but they are going to fight tooth and nail to not pay $2k a pop for those things.

If they don't want to may, just go and do the same to one of their new car on the lot and see how they feel?!? They basically damaged your car by being sloppy and negligent, this was not accidental and unpreventable, so return the favor. I am being sarcastic (to an extent)
