yeah so that person has a post on FB. I apologized I didn’t open your videos prior to my post, but the chirp in your video are the exact same as hers but a lot louder than yours. They actually diagnosed her for putting mid grade gas, but a lot of people who have been using 93 purely from Costco have been reporting it. Others like the poster above who seem use only BP/shell from get the get go don’t have the issue. Yours isn’t not nearly as bad hers, she said she could hear it in the cabin windows up at lights.

@arentz07 did you ultimately get this sorted out? Started happening to me a couple of days ago, and since I have cameras in my garage, it's definitely a new noise. Wondering if this is one of those things that sort themselves out after a couple of tanks of gas (I've changed back to Chevron) or if it'll have to be warranty work.

It comes and goes. I've decided to just let it go unless it gets noticeably worse. If anything, it seems less obvious than it used to.

I have the exact same noise. Keep us posted.

1 more tank of Chevron 92 later, the noise is gone.

I think it's definitely related to the quality of gas.

I only use Costco gas (except when I travel long distances on holidays and Costco is closed) and I've never heard the chirp.

I normally use Chevron these days and have the chirp much less frequently than I used to. However, I would not say it's "gone". Last weekend I went on a mountain run and stopped at a RaceTrac for some fuel on the way home, and I feel the noise came back again. Honestly I am not bothered by it anymore, since it seems like normal operation at this point. I'll just switch back to Chevron at my next fill-up.

Very interesting. I have used BP/Shell 93 octane 99% of the time and no chirping. There has to be a common denominator somewhere.

I have used QT and Costco Gas, lately mostly Costco. No chirps that I can detect besides birds and crickets.

Haha pretty cool video. But I'd say this is still unsolved as to what causes it, taking into consideration everybody's experiences. This is something we'll probably never know the answer to. File it under "Inconclusive."

A more helpful question or poll might be 1) did you ever notice your pump chirp? 2) For those with higher miles who did have a chirp, did you ever have a fuel pump failure? Then people can know whether to really freak out or not. If the answer to #2 is like >30%, I'd say that's a bad sign.

I had about 15k miles when I caught it in the act and was able to record with the hood open. I was able to hear it better on one side than the other.

wonder if other people hear this or if the "normal" sound is somewhat different.

I’ve got the chirp at idle as well. The chirp tends to sound more like a whirring with the passenger side window open while driving. I’ve been to 2 different dealerships and have been told it’s normal. I don’t remember hearing these noises for the first year and a half (2022 IS500).
If it’s normal, why is it only the passenger side pump and why wasn’t it happening before. I went back to the dealer and requested a replacement under warranty. I’m waiting for a response.

Guess you’ll find out if it’s normal after replacement and another year and half go by and it starts again .
