What octane gas are you running? Try different brands, as well. That sounds to me like the hpfp, somewhat normal.

Right at that RPM is weird. I've had tensioner pulley bearings make that sound.

That's the same sound I've been hearing in mine. Dealer was "unable to replicate the concern". If something breaks, my concern is already noted on the RO.

I honestly don't know if it is normal or not.

I've tried a few different brands of gas: QuikTrip, Chevron, Kroger, and RaceTrac. I still have the issue no matter which one I am running. I use 93 octane in this car as well.

OK, so... now, we have three different threads about this sound.

This thread.
This one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ing-sound.html
And my thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...rpm-chirp.html

I am pretty confident they are all the same issue. Do we want to consolidate them or leave them separate?

There's a guy with an orange RC F in Canada here on CL. I can't remember his username but he's said he's heard it since he had it new. Same engine and trans.

I think it's time to merge the engine "chirp" threads.

Oppolock's video is good. It really does sound like grasshoppers chirping.

Yes, the sound is much easier to hear on his video. I think the time where it is most obvious for me is when I am inside the car and driving next to a retaining wall or other vehicles at a low speed.

Can you confirm if the source of the sound is nearer to the front or the back of the engine bay? For me, it seems closer to the back/middle than it is to the front near where the belts are.

Definitely sounds closer to the back/firewall area which is odd. Maybe the sound really is coming from a belt from the front and is just echoing off?

Just to be clear Alex, I don't actually own an IS 500 yet lol. I have heard this noise in an enclosed area before though.

Definitely sounds like a pulley bearing or some sorts of belt/ pulley/ rotating assembly.

My dealer told me the same exact thing, maybe they will change their mind when I show them this video. It's especially noticeable when I'm in an echo-y space, like that parking spot in the video.

93 Octane. The chirping sound is present regardless of the brand of gas I'm using. Also all my other cars are DI and don't make this sound though so I'm not sure that's the issue. I believe HPFP was problematic in the early Fs but they've fixed it a long time ago.

I get it intermittently, I’m gonna use shell nitro v power for the next few months and see if it goes. Lots of Costco members are getting it for example @ILikeRed has it and uses only Costco. I’ve used BP, Costco, Shell and Marathon 93 only. Surprisingly BP is not top tier anymore so going to stick with shell v power see if it helps or hurts.

Hm. Yeah I've used several different brands. I don't know if the person above had the same issue as we do or not. But I do plan to take it back in and report that it's still occurring. I cannot believe that the techs could not replicate the issue; it happens every time I drive at a certain point. Pretty much as soon as it gets up to operating temp.
