See, I've set the precedent with my IS 350 that I can survive 15k miles on the original tires - tread life permitting. So my wife will call BS if I try to allocate the funds for new tires too early.
My original tires on the IS 350 were still acceptable in terms of remaining tread at 15k - I'd say they had about 5/32". They probably could've made another 3,000-5,000 miles. However, those PS4S tires were a huge upgrade and totally worth it to change a little early.
And this is why my wife and I don't have a joint account, I spend my money however the heck I want to! 😁😁😁
Surprisingly, the dealer measured my front tires with 10/32 tread left after 7k miles. I haven't verified for myself if they lazily checked the outside while the inside in worn down. I'm looking forward to swapping the Poopstones out for a real tire soon.

10/32" is ridiculous. You drive in Eco mode all the time?
Oh and we don't have a joint account. But we do pay attention to where we're spending our money to an extent. There are shared things we want to do, like improvements to our house and vacations, that we take turns on financing, if you will. Just never got around to forming a joint account. But I pay for the cars... Anywho.

You’re halfway through the tread after only 15k?? I have the same car and same tires as you and I’ve only worn down to 8/32 and I’ve put on about 25k miles so far or about 40k kms. Are you tracking the car at all? And I drive really aggressively for the most part but I always keep proper inflation on my tires and get an alignment once a year. I’ve been really impressed with these tires so far and the wear has been outstanding, one of the things they are known for.
Either way, I’ve driven many cars on countless ultra or max performance summer tires and these have been the best. Second to these were the Pilot Super Sports, it’s predecessor.
——Edit: My mistake you were talking about the Original Bridgestone Turanzas that came on it not the PS4S. Yeah those tires are brutal, burn em off and throw em out lol.

Apparently I must slow down for the corners too much The rears are at 7/32 though, so I guess I am easier in the turns than the straights lol
I don't like that Lexus continues to saddle us with these Potenza S001L tires. I can tell they're seriously limiting acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. Sometimes when I step on it in third gear at higher speeds, I am like, "Where was this torque all along?" Kind of a bummer. Not that the car feels poor to drive - it's still great, but it deserved better tires. Probably not a hot take, to say the least.
You are EXACTLY right. The biggest smiles I get from this car are when I ‘have’ to pass a line of cars on rural roads. This thing pulls hard at speed.

The acceleration I get while on the highway is phenomenal. This is where the 472 horsepower really starts to show itself. Yet, when I'm at a standstill and floor it, it doesn't seem "as fast". Grip is massive issue

Regardless of the things I don’t like… I do like times like today when I’m able to stay nose to nose with a C63 AMG. Any other car I’ve had before I wouldn’t have even thought about it. But hey, he actually rolled up on me so the 500 has some reputation right??

There's definitely curiosity, that's for sure. Even had a 911 pull up to me last weekend with this perplexed "what's up with this thing" look on his face. Not that I would contemplate for a second giving it a go against a 911, but there is some confusion out there amongst the masses. LOL.
"What do you NOT like about your IS500"? Is the title of this thread.
I do not like this thread.
It has alot of positive feedback on our beloved IS 500's for sure. It also has some subtle rumbles of dissatisfaction, hence the title of the thread. I for one think the thread needs to be locked and put away. It had it's time and I believe has run it's course. It is the antitheses of what this IS 500 is about. The thread has about 13,000 hits and can give the appearance to some their is disdain for this great automobile. That is not the case. Why would we want to do that? I am asking the mods to end it. Their is other places to discuss our car besides a thread titled "What do you NOT like about your IS500"? I will respect the opinion of the forum, please respect mine. The car is great and I think it could justify its existence and stick around a long long while if Lexus would choose to do so. And no, I am not hating on any opinions here, just tired of this thread. If it stays it stays. In the words of eeyore, "I guess I will move along now" in my IS500! GIDDYUP!
Don’t know if you were joking or serious (so that’s how it feels!) but there’s nothing wrong with this thread title - it’s very common in any car forum you go to. The fact we get off topic frequently shows there isn’t much to dislike.
