BBS wheels holding up?
Mine are holding up fine except for the brake dust. I was suckered into getting wheel protection from my dealer. It was the only extra that they got me on. It was about $1,100+-. I figured that it will pay off with just on incident. I am thinking of dismounting the wheels to give them a detailed wash. Afterward, ceramic coating them for easy cleaning.
If the place doing the powder coating is reasonably competent and knowledgeable you shouldn't have to worry. Properly done, forged wheels can stand up to around 3 powder coats before structural integrity is an issue. What often happens, due to places that either don't really know what they're doing (or just don't care) is that the wheel is left in the oven too long or the oven is set too hot. Ask your Lexus dealer who they use and/or do a decent amount of research - even the good places (at least in my area) typically charge $200 or less for a single-wheel repair and re-powder coat. I'm guessing power coating four undamaged wheels would probably be around $600-ish - probably less.
Sorry for the late response. Thanks for the info! Good to know structure stays in tact for 3 repairs
14000 miles on mine, still exactly like the day I bought them. But I warn anyone that goes to touch them that they are $2000 and that generally makes them be careful. At Discount Tire I patiently wait for them to use the automatic machine even if it means waiting an extra hour or two. Idk how the OP has scratches around the edge from the dealer at 2000 miles. Why is the dealer even touching your wheels? We can't rotate them, and even if what you did is balancing, that should not affect the edge in the slightest. Did you get new wheels?

The upgrade package for the wheels was 2500, yeah.. But the wheels them seleves (w/out tires) are 8k.. Those are 2 piece forged BBS wheels.. You ain't getting those for no 2K anywhere.. LMAO..

I mentioned this on the touch up thread, it seems like the more expensive the wheel the easier it is to scratch, and these seem VERY easy to scratch. I have what looks like a tiny pebble chip already in my front driver side after 500 miles, but it was tiny and a toothpick dab of touch up paint made it near impossible to see.
I was looking up this wheel and tire protection and it seems worded that they'll replace it only if it's affecting the pressure of the tires (meaning if the rim was severely damaged). So if you get even nasty scratches from natural road hazards, I don't think Lexus will replace $2000 a pop rims?

PS: I did find a good matte black paint from Amazon that matches decent enough. It's much better than the aluminum that shows through making chips painfully obvious.
