Just want to know if you guys can recommend a reputable shop around San Jose or Monterey County to install lowering springs? I've decided to pull the trigger to lower the car and want a reputable shop to do it instead. TIA!

Not exactly in San Jose but rather Fremont - I highly rec S.W.A.T. Suspension Wheels and Tires. I went there 13 years ago to install lowering springs on my first Prius and I’m pleasantly surprised to see they’re still in business now. At the time it was cash only and a small shop. I remember I didn’t have cash and he asked me how much I had on me, but he trusted me to run to the bank with my car after the job was done (although he did warn me he had my VIN and plate) and return with the money. I think it was $150 for the whole job, and he got it done between my (long) lunch break lol.

and that’s how you make a customer for life. On a different note - do switching springs damage your car in any way? Also do they improve rice quality and is it worth the trade off

Lowering springs don't damage the car in any major way by themselves but the stock shocks will experience faster wear and tear due to the reduced travel of the shorter spring. Good quality springs manage this change better, typically by being either more conservative in drop, having stiffer spring rates, and/or having a stroke that matches the OEM shocks. The only other damage to worry about when lowering cars is self-induced scrapes and bottoming out over speed bumps or driveways, which is almost inevitable on a car that's already pretty low stock.
Thank you! I'll call them to get a quote and see how long is the turnaround. Fremont is about 1.5 hours from me so hopefully I can get it the same day.
