About 1200 miles, no filter change. Only reason I used this lab was because it was free for me I'll post up results from next oil change.

As I expected elevated amounts of copper, molybdenum and silicon. Copper is the only one I can't explain and is the reason for the premature oil change. I put penzoil platinum back in it will do again with filter at 5k. Any gurus have some input on what the copper is from? I've bounced the question to guys around the shop, curious what anyone else has to say. The only other thing that was interesting to me is the weight of the oil, closer to a 20 weight? I'd hope this is intentional and not some mixup like the early owners manual printing errors?
Yikes. Add another messed up IS500 to the list...

I'm about to hit the 10k mark and will do the diff fluid drain and fill. Does anyone have the two part numbers for the crush washers?

That is not required service at 10k, just FYI.

Thanks I'm aware......it's a preventative maintenance item for me. Cheap insurance to get the early shavings out like the OP shows in his photos.

What's the consensus on diff fluid? Is there a recommended first-time fluid change milestone for it?

Just now noticing on the interwebs that some people believe it should be done after the break-in period on a vehicle, etc. and wondering why I've never heard about this before.

I've only done it when the service manual recommended it, which is usually quite a few miles down the road so to speak.

I think Car Care Nut once recommended either 3/30K or 5/50K for the diff, but I honestly cannot find any proof if that was for the 500 or another Lexus. To me, 3/30K sounds reasonable for a daily driver that gets the occasional spirited drive.

It comes up in the manual to change it under heavy driving conditions or something at like 2/24, I can't remember it exactly. I have not seen it come up for normal driving conditions after 3 years so far. I will only do it when it's required for normal conditions. Do our cars even have a drain method or does the diff case have to be opened?

Yeah I am thinking 3/30k is what I'll do. I occasionally drive spiritedly but no track time or drifting lol.

Wondering if I might as well do transmission fluid at 30k as well...

3/30K is what I did with my ISF and plan to follow the same routine for the IS500.

I may hold off on Transmission fluid till 60K.

Interestingly, while one Lexus dealership is happy to drain and fill the transmission fluid, a different Lexus dealership does not even offer this service because it's a "sealed system containing lifetime fluid".

I first changed mine at 1200 mi, then 1800 mi, and most recently at 2300 miles. Each one about 6 months apart
I wanted to put some miles on before the first change as this is not a daily driver.
