Default First Lexus

Picked up a certified 23 IS500 with 23k about a month ago. Coming from Audi S4's it's a bit of an adjustment, but I'm glad to be in a nostalgic V8. The car is very tail happy and won't make it very far on the stock set of tires

The car is a lot of fun to drive and really has 2 personalities. Once you understand how to manipulate the powertrain, it really delivers.

I'm not sure if this is just Lexus brakes, but I feel a slight warp or dirty (not sure how to explain it) pedal feel when on the brakes but only at high speeds or hard braking.

So far I've done
-Full Front PPF
-35% tint 80% windshield
-apexi resonated midpipe (pending on backorder)

Anyways, here's some pics.

Gorgeous.
I would inspect the rotors inside and out. They aren't the best brakes, but shouldn't feel like they are slightly warped

I know the feel you’re speaking of, clean the wheels and rotors well and then see. If the inner wheel barrel is dirty, it can make it feel off. If that isn’t it, could be a minor wheel bend.

As said above, they aren’t the best brake. They didn’t design this as a race car, sadly.

Congrats and welcome to the IS 500 family! I wanted the B7 RS4 so bad way back. It's one of my favorite cars ever. The 4.2 in that sounded amazing.

It really does. The throttle is lethargic in this car and anything below 3k is a snoozefest.

Seems like the RCF conversion fixes this issue?

So they say. I am not racing it or doing track days, so it’s fine for me. If yours are too mushy, re-bleed them or try a DOT 5 Fluid (I assume DOT 3 is in it stock)

Congrats on the new to you car.

I drove a CPO S4, it was my second choice after the IS 500.

I suspect the easiest brake upgrade would be a pad swap to something a little more aggressive

I think you mean Dot 5.1. ABS can be damaged using DOT5. I think the ABS pump might also introduce bubbles in DOT5, leading to a reduction in brake force, and maybe complete failure.

Good choice. Audi sourced different pistons over COVID resulting in the piston skirt failure on these motors. If you've got these pistons it's not if, but when the motor will eventually fail. Audi went from replacing long blocks, to short blocks, to now just dropping new pistons in the bad cylinder walls.

First Lexus is always a big moment. You’ll probably notice the difference right away compared to other brands. Comfort and build quality tend to stand out. It’s one of those upgrades that feels noticeable. Over time, you appreciate the smaller details too. It’s kind of like reading current com reviews—you start noticing the benefits over time.
