In the 2G IS, an ISF power steering computer can be swapped in for better steering response. It's actually a great mod and firms up the steering nicely.

After a little research, it seems that both the RCF and IS500 also have power steering computers. They even look identical in terms of dimension and plug type.

Is anybody aware if a RCF power steering computer can be swapped into an IS500?

I was unaware of this. Very cool, wish I knew about it when I had my 2008 IS350. That one I did install an IS F steering wheel damper which gave the 350 steering wheel more weightiness in its steering feel. I had to disconnect the battery and remove airbag to place it. It looked like the picture below.

 

When did the RC-F get the similar Lexus Safety System 2.5+? 2023??

Unlike the older IS-F mod I would imagine that aspect of the RC-F / IS500 capability would need to match up, otherwise systems like lane assist might throw error codes.

 

Great point. I would imagine that there is a higher level of complexity in the newer cars and that similar year power steering computers would need to be considered.

It looks like the 2023 RCF is the first year for Lexus Safety System 2.5 and it was 2022 for the IS500.
