look for bumper/paint repair specialists in the area on like yelp/google. a lot of them are less expensive than a body shop and if you look at their google/yelp reviews you can look at user-submitted before and afters.

that said, your car is atomic silver which is difficult to match. it won't look good with the touch-up paint sold at like the dealership but i guess it'll look better than it does now.

Touch up paint well make it look worse. Just get it repainted.

As mentioned above, that is not a touch up paint job, it will 100% look worse. I used touch up paint on some rock chips in the front of my car and it doesn't even hold properly. Get that professionally fixed, you could get it cheaply fixed too which would look better than the touch up paint.
Looks like it would be $300-400 out of pocket honestly if you went with a cheap-O place

It all depends how much you care about your car and how much you can stomach the damage vs how much you want to spend. Touch up paint will look okay from a far enough distance or to an unsuspecting person. But if you're OCD about your car or ever want to sell your car for top dollar, it'll need to be repainted.

If you decide to get touch up paint, definitely get the one from the dealership. It's the closest paint match out there and only $12 and comes with a brush and pen tip applicator. Don't even bother with amazon or ebay.

If you’re into DIY, I repaired my bumper myself on my last car. Someone scraped it in a parking lot too. I followed what this guy in the video did and it came out very well. Everyone I asked couldn’t find anything wrong with the car and we’re shocked I repaired it myself. It only took about 3 hours because I was nervous, but whenever I need to do this again it should be faster.

My last car was also Alpine white, so that probably helped tons. But if you do some blending and be patient it will probably look 9/10 on atomic silver (the color of my current car too).

Not the best pic, but it was 3 days after I repaired it (the side without the license plate, if you can’t tell).

To repair something like this, can the shop repaint the existing bumper or do they have to replace it?
how much should a repair like this cost at a reputable shop?

it doesn't need to be replaced, just repaired. it can cost anywhere from $400-700 dollars depending on location. someone hit my audi and left license plate marks along the center of my bumper, so i had the center only repaired and repainted for 400 but was quoted by other places ranging up to 700. i'm in san diego, ca.
