3IS engine swap
Has anyone with an IS200T perform a motor swap on their car?
More specifically swapping to an IS350 engine?
If so, what needs to get done in order for this to work?
Car in question is a 2017 IS 200T
Before anyone says sell this car and buy an IS350, here's why I would consider the swap:
- First owner and the car is mint
- Transmission is the same on the 2017 (correct me if I'm wrong)
- RWD
- Brakes are the same on the 2017
- No sunroof (not a fan)
As for any other comfort features, I would like to add a heated steering wheel, but aside from that, it's got everything that I need.
Just looking to see what needs to be done in order for this to work.
Thanks in advance everyone!

^^ If you could pull it off and relatively cheap, that would be wicked so you could have a V6 with a RWD in Canada (which is not available to those of you in the US that aren't aware). I'll be watching this thread carefully, now that I could come come to doing anything like this myself (I can barely open my hood) but just to see if this is doable - Best of luck and I'll be watching but if you succeed, you will have a
The easiest and best thing would be to find a totaled 2017 IS350, something that was hit in the rear or sides and just destroyed...then you could swap everything over that you need.
Just to start you're gonna need the engine (of course), all the wire harnesses and fuse boxes under the hood and the harness that goes from the engine bay into the car...and that's just to start.
You may need a harness or two behind the dash, the instrument cluster, maybe the Main Body ECU.
You can see why the totaled car is the way to go. Plus you might find the steering wheel parts you need too for the heated wheel.

Maybe drive the 350 and see if you like the real world characteristics vs your IS200t. turbo 4 offers strong power down low where you need it where you may find a 350 faster in absolute #s, you may find you need to rev it out to actually feel a difference in real world situations.
to me i'm just not seeing the real world value in going through all the trouble to swap engines.

I have to agree with this. Test drive an IS350 if you can and see if this much effort is really going to be worth your time and money. If I was considering doing something like this I'd probably go all the way and just replicate the original "IS500 build" that was done a few years back. I believe that person bought a wrecked RC F and transferred the 2UR and any other usable parts over to their 2014 IS.
I saw photos of that IS500 build (that car is in Russia), not sure if it works at 100% though.
