I agree with ^^^ - In the end, trying to stay as respectful as possible is the best way to proceed. To some, this repair may have been acceptable but for people that are passionate about their car, this repair is subpar in my opinion. Just try and say be polite and say, "Listen, I know you guys tried your best and I appreciate the attempt to repair it but unfortunately, I am not happy with the outcome. Just check with the dealer on the cost of the wheel replacement in case they ask....worst comes to worse, if they don't want to pay the whole thing, try and find an acceptable compromise (70/30) - It's better to be a little out of pocket than them just totally blow you off and then have to eat it all yourself. It really sucks but hope for a good outcome for you.

Yes, that is the way to go. I have been very polite to everyone so far and hoping to continue that - while also being honest that this repair was not to satisfaction.
Fingers crossed they can work something out - otherwise I'll be driving around with a burn scar on my wheel. lol!

I don't suspect Discount Tire will give you a hard time. I've had nothing but great experiences with them both in customer service and the work that they do. It sucks that they really messed up on this job though. On my current car I have gloss black wheels and after 6 years with it I don't have curb rash or any mark on them, so I always tell the guy behind the register and people actually working on my car to be very careful as there is no pre-existing damage on the wheels. One time I guess it scared them because they covered all of my rims in blue painter's tape and then did their thing.

That is dedication right there.
And yeah I agree, this Discount Tire place seems really nice in general. I think this was just a perfect storm of genuine mistakes.
Believe it or not, I think I am just going to let this go. To be honest, if just do a walk-around of the car, I can't even see the repair. I have to get down on one knee and inspect the wheel to pin point it. It sorta blends in with the other shadows/reflections on the wheel.
If you can find it in less than 3 seconds in the photo below, I will send you a (figurative) cookie.
I decided there's better things for me to do with my time than go back and forth with the tire place over something no one will ever see or care about. If I, the owner, don't care enough to fix it, who would? Just gotta woo sa and move on.

Assuming we look at this wheel as a map. I'm guessing its the area North east. It's the only area that has a visible gloss black edge. But I could be wrong.
That, or the area that is North West. And if it is that area, I would DEFINITELY ask for a new wheel.

in the end, it is a personal choice and if you can live with it, then it's all good. I couldnt see from that pic, at least on my phone but at my age, unless you stick it my face, I wont see it...
Now as far as the cookie, I had a lady who once offered me "her cookie" but I sure hope your arent offering that type...lmao

repainted area appears to be NW. It don't look too bad.
Yeah it's the north west. TBH it's a dice roll as to which angle the wheel is rotated - I think that plays the biggest role in how it looks.
The wheel guy texted me again and claims his shop has a solution for chromed wheels after talking to his boss. So maybe there's something there. I'll call him and ask about it tomorrow.

Respectfully, is it worth all the trial and error to potentially end up with a rim that doesn’t match the rest? Personally I think your best bet is to take it to Discount Tire and tell them this won’t do it for you. Like you said, it wasn’t your fault. Mistakes happen. That’s why shops carry insurance.

That is fair. Idk. Maybe I should've just followed through today and talked to them after all. If nothing else it's worth a shot and will probably be less work to just get a new wheel.

I totally get that. If you want to give the wheel guy one more shot by all means. But personally, if that doesn’t work, I wouldn’t settle. Best of luck.
arentz07 - It is worth talking to the repair shop but in the end, like TipsyTonio said (and others like myself), you need to be happy with the end result and should be something as close to before as possible. We often take the path of least resistance because we don't want to deal with hassle, confrontations etc however, if you compromise now, it may irritate you more in the future and by then, you won't have the ability to get compensated for it. The thing is that if you see it, and you know it's there, you will never un-see it. I have seen how you keep your vehicle in great shape, you go to various meets and such so I know you have pride in how your car looks unlike many who just never even wash their cars so I suspect this will annoy you in the long run. Just keep us posted but best of luck
