Default Lexion vs Alibaba Car Play/Android Auto Unit?

Does anyone have any on-hand experience in both units? I understand lexicon has newer specs with a faster processor and what not but is there a difference in audio quality? how long it takes to start up the unit? lag? Trying to install one in my car but don't know which one, and the lexions unit is currently on sale. Thanks in advance.

I am telling you... do not bother with any of the Alibaba units. I know a few people are happy with their Alibaba units so I don't want to speak on their behalf, but I received mine from someone named Iric Tan. I've had hands-on experience with both and without a doubt, the Lexion unit is 100% better. The Lexion unit starts up in 10-15 seconds meanwhile the Alibaba unit was a huge hit or miss. Sometimes it would have 20 second boot times and other times it would not connect at all or have extremely long boot times. Don't make the same mistake I did. Buy the Lexion unit from the get-go. Even if it's a little bit more expensive. A lot of forum members have the Lexion unit and love it. I assume @Jazzrock will be chiming in on this as well. He loves his unit.

Thought I'd add too. If you're using iPhone, the Lexion unit starts Carplay automatically, meanwhile, the Alibaba Unit does not. At least the one I had. I had to manually start up Z-Link (The app used to run Carplay). The communication with the Lexion team can sometimes be hit or miss but even still, It's still worth it in my opinion to get their unit.

The Binary unit is GREAT!
I installed it a year ago (screen got no Blue-light filter at that time, I believe that they have upgraded the coating of the display now)

Which firmware version is your unit running? Mine is April 2021 build.

I received the unit/screen some time in May and had it installed June 11. I imagine I have the same build as you.

I would like to share my experience with the aliexpress unit i got from the seller roadtop. My car is a 2016 IS200t, base version with the 7" display screen that does NOT come with navigation and it uses the rotary **** instead of mouse-like thingy. I installed the Carplay/AA module myself and I would say if I can do it, anyone can do it. It is tedious, but not difficult and can be done in 3 hours in a no-rush manner. I only got the carplay module and not the big-screen that is also a touchscreen, which is another model altogether.

1) The startup-to-connection to my iphone takes 15-20s tops and wirelessly connected automatically everytime. (It has already been a year since I installed it)
2) Reverse camera displays fine and works as per factory when reverse gear is engaged
3) When in carplay mode, accepting and talking hands-free is routed to the car's bluetooth (gotta set on iphone and the module)
4) Sound quality is same as car's bluetooth when playing back music in CP mode
5) Car's microphone is left untouched when installing it
6) Other than time difference that causes delay from the seller sometimes, they have been very responsive through watsapp, (patience is needed) I have even gotten the latest firmware just last week. (Ver 3.5.0.8.lt.l)

"The inability to access the Lexus OS was a manufacturing issue, as others report no issues so I won't hold that against the unit's performance itself."

This issue is very likely related to the cable connection.

I would check all the cables again if that happens.

Checked multiple times. Pictures sent multiple times. Individual pins checked. I suggested that the wiring harness was bad and maybe a new one would fix the issue. I was told he would ship one asap but then he stopped responding. This was weeks ago.

I'm not sure why my reply jumped to this thread. This forum is crazy.
