Default Rear windshield tint issue?

This is my first time getting my windows tinted and the rear windshield has this effect of lights reflecting the defroster lines. Is this normal?
I’ve attached a picture

What kind of tint did they install?
Off hand I would say it's not normal...but depending on what kind of tint it is, maybe it's normal for that tint...but I highly doubt it.

When did you get it tinted? I would wait a few days so the tint fully cures and go from there

My tint looked exactly like that. I thought it was normal and just dealt with it. It was 20% ceramic tint. I wonder if it's because it was ceramic

I think it was worse the first week it was installed and then it got more manageable, but it was still there

2 days ago and it’s ceramic film

while I was researching I came across people having this issue on their Teslas (https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/thre...-lines.139937/) and it’s normal. Maybe it’s just the way the defrosters were installed on new cars? Mine is 2017 Lexus IS

If you just got the tints down, I would give it about 5 days to let the tint fully cure. Reminder not to turn on the rear defroster. Also depending on which area you’re from it could take longer to cure as some areas are more hotter than others. I had mine done in the middle of summer so it was blazing hot and it cured pretty fast.

It's normal and the reflections never went away although it got better after a few weeks. I especially hated the reflections at night. The rear window tint also compromised interior/exterior mirror auto dimming. I thought about having the rear window tint removed but was told that it was likely that the defroster grid would be damaged during the removal.

I'll never have a back window tinted again. Why bother anyway on a sedan when most nice ones have an electrically retractable shade.

I have ceramic tints as well but it doesn’t look like that. Looks like how it should without any glare or reflections

Never seen this or had this. Must be the type of tint.
would absolutely drive me nuts.

Dangerous to have removed but may be worth it....dangerous to have it on there too. Maybe easier to remove BEFORE its on there too long. I'd look into that...its been done without causing damage to rear defrost. Get a different tint.

Originally had my tints done at a shop that had used cheap tints. Not long after getting the tints done I decided to get them remove and replaced with 3M ceramic. The second shop I went to was able to remove my rear window tints with no issues and the rear defroster still works. The old tints were on my car for only a month so the shop said removal should be safe. I would be hesitant to remove any rear window tints if they had been on for a while though...

All of my cars have been tinted since 2001, and the rear window on every single one of them have looked like this. However, they have not been as severe as yours. To be fair, I rarely drive at night, so I can’t remember if they looked that severe in the beginning and eventually went away. Like others have suggested, I would wait a few days. The tint might still be wet, which might be causing that effect.
