There is a decent amount of superchargers here in soCal OC but the problem is they get so crowded unless you go early morning or late at night.... Reliability is another thing on Tesla. There are so many electronic components. I would give them a couple more years to work out their kinks before even considering them.

All the "kinks" you've heard about are on the model S which was designed like 18 years ago. The model 3 is a few generations ahead and from what i've seen, no issues to speak of. infinitely more reliable than any 3IS with its billions of parts and all the failures it has (electronics wise)

the charging thing i see... but still. you get caught with your pants down on a gas car, you fill up on any street corner. with electric, i imagine much clenching going on

I've been monitoring the availability of stalls at these Superchargers and its uncommon when all the stalls are taken (owners get access to this info through their app). Certain Superchargers are busier than others but there are always stalls available at lesser visited locations that are usually close by. Most people also charge their car in 15-30 min increments so stalls open up pretty quickly. Most owners do the 20-80% rule so it takes about 25 min to charge from 20% to 80%. I usually spend about 10 min gassing up my car so i know i'll lose about 15-20 mins by charging. I figure the time penalty is offset by the huge amount of money i'm saving by using electricity vs. gas. Some people say that using the Supercharger is expensive but you can't look at it like that. Its the average electricity you are paying over the life of the vehicle that you are really paying vs the gas. I'm averaging ~3 cents per mile vs. the 20 cents i used to pay for fuel. Another way to look at is would people willingly take 2-3x as long if they could get $1/gal vs. $4/gal? I'm more than willing to pay for that.

E46CT, I thought you would have been charged the 300 plus disposition fee? My lease ends next month. Funny how former E46'ers have grown bored of the IS200T lol, a testament to how great of a car the E46 was. Anyway, I bought the wear and tear package so that should cover my curb rashes which are light anyway. I won't bother with the inspection. Lexus has my MSD as well, hoping they don't get greedy and touch my funds.

Car is pristine inside, nothing lost or broken. No kids so back seat still looked like new. I still have 3k miles left but doesn't appear i will use it all up and have no desire to extend my lease. Irony here is Lexus charges those you go over their miles but if you're under like me who bought extra miles, they don't give any form of credit. Anyhow, Going back to the dark side lol.

I'm at 17k miles right now on a 36k mile 3 yr lease.... My lease ends in 2 months. I always thought the same as you, why don't we get credit for the unused miles? Bet you with my car being at literally half of the 3 yr mileage allowance (not to mention the pristine condition, inside and out), it'll still be charged some BS fee's upon turn-in.

Anyways, apart from that and since Lexus really hasn't made me any attractive offers on a new IS (literally same car for the past 5 years), I was browsing the BMW forums since that is maybe where I'm headed and happened to see you over there too lol. I just can't seem to get any of those deals that people there are getting. I'm getting outrageous quotes.

I personally don't like the model 3. The front grill to me is so ugly. And the 3 only has that one giant screen for everything, when the S has a center dash along with that ipad center console screen. I'll definitely consider Tesla in 4-5 years, I just want to see where the technology goes.

Lol, my sentiments exactly, why get the same boring 3IS. Send me a PM over there if you want, I can provide you with some pointers to help with your negotiation/ acquisition.

Cheers!
