Driver side door panel leather upholstery - San Diego
Hey everyone, recently just joined the 3IS fam when I bought a used 2015 350 F sport. All things were great and almost new except for one thing - a considerable tear at the stitching on the driver side door panel interior
A couple of things I wanted to ask...
Would you try getting it sewn at an auto upholstery place? -any in San Diego anyone would recommend?
Or try replacing the whole panel? -where can I find a whole door panel like this?
Thanks guys

IMHO, I think it’s going to be a wash on which route you take on this repair. The rip is at the seam and has pulled out, to repair will only make it tighter and likely tear again. Factor in the new materials, time, and labor for repair vs replacing the door card. You may be able to source a replacement off of eBay for $100-200 vs $2-400 for the repair.

hopefully they can fix it. i looked but couldn't find a used door panel on ebay. usually that would be the best way to go.
the fix would likely be peeling the vinyl off the backing and restitching it and regluing. Not sure if there's much vinyl to work with, some may have torn away. Maybe they'd just manufacturer a new piece. You can also get a used panel on ebay in a light color, like white, and apply red dye.Or you can just dye the white part there as a cheap fix. Depends on how much you want to spend.
if it were me i'd apply some red dye/paint/marker to the white area to hide it while i wait for a used panel to pop up on ebay. they go for around $150. likely the cost of any such repair.
