maintenance questions
Hi all,
I currently have a 2014 is 250awd @64k miles and got it when it first came out. I just did my 70k oil change and now lexus is saying these are some of the things that are needed to be done. The cabin filter and engine filter i can do myself. Im going to change my brakes soon also so the brake flush will be done. My biggest concern is the fuel injection and throttle body service. None of my friends can figure out why this needs to be done. Any suggestions? below are the prices from lexus for the services. Thank you https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...2e7062e0b9.png |
You don't need it. Just buy some Tehcron fuel additive and clean the throttle body manually if you are worried.
|
I would also do the differentials as well.
|
I'd say skip the fuel inector cleaning. I highly doubt they're going to do more than run a bottle of injector cleaner through the system and of course clean the throttle body. You can pick that up from an auto parts store for cheap.
Surprisingly, at my last service, they offered to do the same injector cleaning and throttle body service for only $153... |
If you did the complete 60K service all those things should have fall under that service. Its the biggest service mark on these cars.
For all that would like the info on the 350 rwd so add the front diff for the awd for the respective service windows. 60,000 Miles or 72 Months Recommended Service Check Installation Of Driver's Floor Mat Reset Oil Maintenance Reminder, if Oil was Changed Perform Road-Test on Vehicle Rotate Tires(1) Inspect Axle Shaft Boots Inspect Body Inspect Visually, Brake Linings/Drums And Brake Pads/Discs Inspect Wiper Blades Inspect /Adjust All Fluid Levels(2) Inspect Ball Joints And Dust Covers Inspect Brake Lines And Hoses Inspect Engine Coolant Inspect Steering Linkage And Boots Inspect Brake Linings/Drums And Brake Pads/Discs(3) Inspect Exhaust Pipes And Mountings Inspect Steering Gear Box/Rack And Pinion Inspect Drive Belts Inspect Fuel Lines And Connections, Fuel Tank Band And Fuel Tank Vapor Vent System Hoses Inspect Fuel Tank Cap Gasket Replace Brake Fluid Replace Smart Key Battery Replace Engine Oil And Oil Filter(4) Replace Rear Differential Oil(5) Replace Spark Plugs(6) Replace Engine Air Filter Replace Cabin Air Filter (If Equipped) Visually Inspect Transmission for Signs of Leakage Replace the oil filter and drain and refill the engine oil at specified intervals. This is what was actually done at 60K (minus plugs and engine filter) I had changed the plugs myself and there was a F sport filter in.

Thank you https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...2e7062e0b9.png brake flush for $160 is a lot, my Lexus dealer charges 120$, independent mechanic more like $80... front and rear diff are easier than a oil change, buy the fluid yourself and pay a mechanic 30 min of labor to change them. I did fuel injection and throttle body service for $80 from a licensed independent Toyota mechanic, they hook up a pressurized can of cleaner and run it through the system, I watched it. Toyota tech stream is used as you shut off/control certain fuel injectors during the process, it sounds cool to listen to... $299 from dealer is insane, it’s a 1 hour job taking your time. |

Too soon to service Fuel injection and Throttle body , if you fill Top tier gas ignore the Fuel injector service , buy a bottle of Throttle body clean at American/Canadian tire and spray it but Never Touch the Valve Open/Close. There is reason i always suggest to use Top tier gas Synthetic Engine Oil and OEM Lexus Gear oil, Air Filter, Spark Plugs etc. |
Do you guys have any recommendations where i should buy the brake pads and filters? I was going to go to lexus for oem parts. Thank you to everyone for the advice btw.

You can buy genuine Toyota oem parts on eBay for a fraction of the price of dealer. |
