Default 2014 IS250 not starting

Hi all, I drove my car this morning with no trouble. When I went to drive home, car would not start.. I pushed the button, the panel lit for a second then went black. No sound or warning lights. After a few minutes it started with no trouble. Anyone know what this may be? I'm guessing it's the alternator, really hope it's something easy.

Most likely, dead battery.

If the vehicle started up fine after letting sit a few minutes, then I wouldn't say it's an alternator or dead battery.
Alternator will only factor in if the battery goes dead while the vehicle is running.
And of course if the battery was dead, leaving it any number of minutes wouldn't make a difference.

However, it's possible that the battery could have a bad cell...meaning the cell will intermittently short out, making it appears to be a dead battery, but could start the vehicle when the cell isn't shorting out.
How old is the battery? Is it the original one?

Unlikely that its your alternator. Had an alternator die on me on a previous vehicle, but that was after 175,000 miles. I noticed a slow start up days before the thing actually went kaput. I also noticed a whirring noise like the belt was not operating correctly.

Willing to bet its the battery.

Check your battery terminals and the cables. Make sure there's no corrosion built on them. How old is your battery? If it's a Lexus battery, they only warranty them for 2 years, and then they prorate the cost of a new battery for up to 4 additional years. Just changed out my 2nd battery last week. 1st one didn't even last 2 years thanks to the AZ desert and summer heat. My 2nd one lasted 3 years.

Check your battery terminals and tighten down the bolts. Dont just do visual inspection. It may look fine but need a tightening. I've had some weird stuff happen with a loose terminal end clamp...which was barely loose at all.

Maybe a dead cell too. Any auto parts store can help you with that of you leave it with them.

but check the terminal ends, I bet that's it.

Like sansuke said wouldn't be a dead battery if it started up after waiting a minute.

I have the same problem, did you find the cause?
