Changing interior light
Hello,
What do you guys usually use to change the interior of lexus' light into LED? I found these so called premium LED which is quite expensive through an installation video and was wondering how it compares with generic LED light you find on ebay? Premium https://www.precisionled.com/lexus-i...4-present.html Generic? https://www.ebay.com/itm/XtremeVisio...YAAOSwpuFaE~YZ What do you guys use? |
I highly recommend Diode Dynamics I’ve used them a lot, but they are expensive. You get what you pay for and they offer a 3 year warranty on their bulbs. I actually used something different for my IS though because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on Diode Dynamics LEDs so I bought these. they are good for the price and have held up for 5 months so far no problem and they are bright. Not blinding bright, but a good bright. I used them to replace EVERY single bulb that wasn’t LED inside as well as the puddle lights on the side view mirrors.

I just buy big packs off of Amazon. If one burns out I just replace lol

These cars should come with standard LED interior lights. Cant believe they cheap out on small details like this. I need to do this to mines as well, just haven't had the time.

somebody tried to "hook" me up with the leds at $8 each. i found the same ones on amazon for $15-$30, can't remember how much. the order came with something like 20+ bulbs. most of the bulbs are pretty straight forward to swap. the hardest ones to change out are the ones on your sideview mirrors.

Don't water money on those kits. I almost did, but they're totally unnecessary. Two sets of the ones linked below was enough for every interior light and the mirror bulbs. They're pretty damn bright. Get yourself a cheap tool off Amazon to help, all the interior lights can be done in 15 minutes. You have to remove a screw when replacing the driver's side floor bulb.

https://amzn.to/2pgu65e Get something like these. (I got the one in the 2nd link) I don't jerk with those 194-type LED bulbs for interior anymore. They're way too dim. These LED panels will wake the dead. If you want less brightness, get ones with less LEDs in them. They make all kinds. I even got red LED panels for my door lights so when I open my door it's a super bright red flood of light so safety is improved. I love these panels. Got one in the trunk too and it's ridiculously bright. They come with adapter wires to adapt to a variety of applications, including of course ours. |

Yeah the puddle courtesy lights are pretty annoying to change. |
Take a look at the Philips 194 LED Bulbs or the Xtreme 194 Bulbs. The two main differences would be the brightness and color, the Philips ones have more color thanks to its 6000K rating while the Xtreme ones are going to be brighter.
Here are the Xtreme 194 LED bulbs installed in a 4Runner: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...5ad1d7caac.jpg -Danny |
