Ipod won't display in my 2018 is300
Need help. Just got is300. Plugged in my ipod with updated software into USB port. Ipod plays a song but prior to finishing the entire system shuts off. I turn audio back on and ipod no longer displays. I bought an mp3 sandisk player, loaded songs and plugged into USB port. It played and after I shut off car, it was gone after a start up. Same as ipod. Dealer ordering me a new audio system. I'd rather fix myself versus taking interior apart.
help!! |
Are you sure youre using a USB wire with data transfer capabilities? Try a couple different cables.
|
Try using the AUX instead?
|
Yes, I'm using a USB cable. I transferred 1000 songs to the mp3 sandisk player from my computer. It's not the cable. It may be the 2 USB ports in the car. Or the software from the audio system. My wife has a new 2018 es350 and my ipod works with no issues. When something is plugged into either port, it seems to "overload " the entire system and it turns off! Funky. Like I said, the dealer is getting me a new audio system. Other people have had the same issue. No one seems to know the answer.

update...instead of attaching my mp3 player via a usb cable, I paired the player to the car's audio via bluetooth. This worked. The audio has not turned off since. Starting the car, the player connects immediately. The downside of a bluetooth connection is the information on the screen is limited. No song title, art, etc. I can pause, rewind, and go to next song however. No other options as far as I can see. The usb ipod and mp3 player connection shows a lot more information. But it's better than nothing I suppose. If you were me, would you let the dealer install a new audio system? I'm concerned the interior will be effected from the install.

As far as using the AUX option, I need a cable that converts usb to aux. Is there one?

Wait... yeah it doesn't. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201869 Looks like Apple makes one such adapter, if nothing else. I am guessing you don't want to use Bluetooth because you keep your phone paired with the car? |

Why do you need this? Your iPod doesn't have a headphone jack?

You can Bluetooth your iPod and phone at the same time. I do it every day. You lose a bit of quality by bluetoothing the iPod but I don't find the difference that big.
I guess it helps that I just don't have a separate media device for my music. :uh: |
I'm at the dealer now. They are installing a new radio. I hope this works. Last night I thought I had this beat. I attached a new mp3 player via bluetooth. All was good in the car. Songs were playing but with no info displayed. All I could do was pause play go to next song stop, etc. I turned the car off and on as I made some stops . No issues..bluetooth remained connected and the song continued. This am after turning the car on, there was no connection since I never charged the player overnight. That's the downside to bluetooth vs USB connection...with USB the player is always being charged. Song info, playlists, etc appear.
I hope a new radio works. All I want is a connected ipod via USB that always stays connected. I by ad no issues with my 2015 Acura tls. |
Update...with the new radio, my ipod still shuts the system off after about a minute. However, my new mp3 player works great after I unplug the USB cable and plug it back in each time I start the car. The radio is always off when I start the car.

Just bought a 2018 IS300 and am having the same issues. It worked fine during the test drive and the day of purchase. Now it shuts off and I can't get it to recognize my iPhone plugged in at all. Audio stays shut off until I start the car and turn it back on, but it still won't recognize iPhone. Really frustrating.

Do you have at least one song saved on your iPhone?
