yeah a quick plug and play screen would be cool. 4 bolts and a wire harness in and out in 5 min would be awesome. under $100 please (you know these things are probably $15 in parts)

Yeah I wish. This damn touch screen is $1000. Granted it has its own processor and features etc but damn it’s pricey. Unfortunately it’s either this or the retrofit of the OEM screen and that we have to replace the actual stereo unit too. Apple CarPlay added on by 4x4 shop is the only reason I’m going to probably buy it.

I thought all 2018 3IS have the newer OEM screen?
Or is it a packaged option?

Lol, its $1735.
Comparitively to oem, this android unit isnt half bad for the price.
My Camry android unit was ~$400-500 but you can find them for ~$200.
So the Lexus unit is pricer compared to other android units.

Well honestly I didn’t care much for the bigger screen because Lexus wasn’t offering Apple CarPlay and if there’s one thing everyone should know about me it’s that I’m an Apple guy so I’m very annoyed with Lexus and waiting until 2019 to introduce Apple CarPlay. This unit would add Apple CarPlay so I’m in with that. Haha

I will update once its shipped and then of-course once its received.
If you have any questions please post them in here and I'll try to answer them once I have the unit in hand.

Not bad. Do you have the mouse/joystick controller, or the wheel?

Man, this is tempting.
The PX5 cards (8core+4GB ram+32GB rom, 64bit, Android 8.0) are on eBay and look compatible.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=px5+android+8.0+upgrade&_sacat=0

Might buy the PX3 (4core+1GB ram+16GB rom, 32bit, Android 4.4) unit and swap in the PX5 card.
Its ~$670
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10-25-inch-Display-Android-Car-Radio-GPS-Navigation-Bluetooth-Head-Unit-Screen-for-Lexus-IS/32905675817.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.16.f7da716eW47Dbg&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_5_10065_10068_10130_10547_10546_10059_10548_10545_10696_100031_10084_10083_10103_451_452_10618_10307,searchweb201603_16,ppcSwitch_5&algo_expid=8a21e96e-ddf2-4fd2-aeb3-d163581e2b05-2&algo_pvid=8a21e96e-ddf2-4fd2-aeb3-d163581e2b05&priceBeautifyAB=0

So the total could be near ~$850 for the exact spec I want.

Update:
After digging some more these units do not use the Rockchip PX3 or PX5 platform card.
Instead they are using AutoChip's AC8227 (4core+2GB+32GB Rom).
Very little info can be found for AutoChip the manufacturer.
I dont think its a good idea to be stuck on Android 4.4 or 6.0.

So these boards should be different and upgrading cards is not possible.
Will confirm once I get an email back from the seller on AliExpress asking for a screenshot of the device info.

Units are not related to the popular MTCB/MTCD which use the PX3/PX5, but are MTK units so upgrading the card will be difficult:

I received the unit today but cant get it to work for now, while its plug and play it comes with the attavhat wiring kit and i cant figure out how to hook it up. The comon sense method doesn't seem to work as my screen wont come on.

Can you take clearer photos of how you connected it. Also does it have manual with diagram of connections?
