Default When do you get oil change / transmission fluid change?

Someone told me instead of every 10K miles I should do 5K and for transmission fluid, one of my friend's said around 40-50K miles. How often do you guys do these maintenances?

Unless you drive it hard, that's not necessary

Follow the maintenance schedule in the manual and you'll be good

Dealer advised me to change tranny fluid every 70k kms to keep it going forever. Leave it if you don't plan to keep the car more than 5 year.

Air Filters need to be change way more frequently. Especially considering they are 20 bucks. Every other oil change or 10k Miles is really what you should be doing for engine air filters and cabin air filters. More if you live in dusty environments.

Personally I think the air filter and cabin filter can be changed as needed. For the few seconds it takes to check each, they should be checked at every service, but only changed as necessary.
Driving conditions around the globe are vastly different, so having a hard and fast rule for filters that filter air (basically) is tough.

I change my oil every 5,000 kilometers, which equates to every 6 months based on how much I drive the vehicle (approx. 10,000 kms a year).

I mean going by the service manual isn’t a bad idea at the minimum. If you want to do stuff more often all the power to you imho. I personally change my oil at 8,000 miles and my engine air filters at least once a year. The cabin air filter the same about every year. Transmission fluid I plan on doing every 50,000 miles. My car is only at 4,000 miles so just sharing what I do with my other vehicles.

I take my car to Mecano Autoworks by the airport in Toronto. I asked about transmission fluid and he says at about 96,000 KM it'll be due. Certified Lexus Master Tech so I'll take his word for it. It's a 2014 is350 fsport3. Doing the transfer case and rear differential fluids this service, at 80,000 km.

Always go by the manual as said. But if you want to do more, you can.

For oil changes, I think 7,000 is a happy medium. Lexus says 10k is OK. and it probably is. But lets face it we're on an enthusiast forum which means we probably drive a bit harder than your typical Lexus customer. So i'd say go shorter.

Trans... i'd probably do 50k.

I just did my hybrid transaxle fluid on my CT200h F Sport at 43k. Lexus says to do it at 100k -- the old fluid was dark.

It took me an ice age to pump four quarts of new fluid in by hand...

Hmmmm, that looks like a significant difference between old and new fluid. Maybe I'll look into transmission fluid change soon.

Yep I was surprised. My CT is a 2015. And it doesn't make a ton of power. I believe the engine is only 89 horsepower. So you can imagine with a bigger drivetrain and a lot more heat pushing a lot more power how much worse the fluid would look. I believe the 8AT does have a lot more fluid in it so that can help too. So maybe one cancels out the other. But still worth thinking about

And it's the same fluid as in the IS. ATF WS

That's how I've ever done. Check and change as needed.

So your 5000 km for each change? That's 3,100 miles about. I guess it shouldn't go longer than 6 months is that why you change at such small mileage intervals? 10,000 km a year is nothing, a little jealous
