2018 IS 300 F-Sport Seat Defect (Red)
 

Bought a new IS 300 in January (Lexus Escondido), within a few thousand miles seat was creasing. They replaced and less than 1k miles the creases are back. After speaking with "higher ups" The District Manager, Steven Alvarez, decided there is no sign of a manufacturing defect in workmanship or material. I now have a Lexus with less than 7k miles with a crappy looking driver seat, anyone have this problem as well?

I went out to my car to take pics. They definitely shouldn't be creasing that fast. Seems like the padding underneath is weak or you are perhaps pressing on the seat in a particular way.

They're wearing fine, it seems. Though my lumbar does click once in a while as i shift in my seat. but it's quite rare when it happens.

Awesome looks good thanks! Yea I agree I think it is something with the padding as well. That's what I noticed also, I looked at 16 and 17 models with up to 30k miles and none showed signs of this. The dealership said it is common to the 2018 models and all their customers' cars there for servicing had it as well. Not an acceptable answer in my opinion. I would've not bought an 18 if I knew this beforehand.

How high up do you have the front of your seat set? Does your leg press down on the seat or just kinda rest on it? Ie does that front part of your seat hold your leg up?

While I agree that it shouldn't cease like that, and mine, although not red, does not have any creases, I'm simply trying to get a full picture of what may be the reason. As unlikely as it could be that you happened to have 2 defective seats, I'd like to know if it is even remotely possible that its caused by your seating position. Since it seems to only be on the side with the non driving leg

I was thinking that could be it also so I completely changed the way I had it when I got the new seat the first time. It was somewhat flat with no support under my thighs and I went to an inclined from the front to the back so my thighs were resting on the front of the seat. No luck though. The thing that gets me is the dealership sent me pics of other customers cars with the same creases so they say it's "normal to this year" but I would say it is a defect in this specific year and model and is worth looking into.

It's a function of how much weight you put on that part of the seat. Mine has similar creases, but at 46000 km. I try to achieve thigh support without pressing too hard into the seat.

I would be fine if it happened at that point also, I know it will happen. However, at less than 2000km? And I tried both with support and no support. Just curious, are both of your models 2018 models?

Yea that is strange. I need to find more cars with the same issue. I'm thinking it is either specific to the red interior in 2018's but need more data to be able to prove it. Maybe I'll see about getting a 2017 seat installed?
