Those Hondata tunes are no joke for the new 2.0t. I read an article some time back that tune gives the accord around 370lbft.

I am all about my IS350 F-sport and think its hands down a better car overall, but I have to say that is impressive for Honda.

this is true. the accord is something like 3,070 lbs. IS350 around 3640-ish. That's 600 extra lbs the IS has to hustle. or 3 very healthy, 6-foot adult males.

IF the accord does quarter mile in 14.3 like motor trend says than I'd bet any IS350 will pull on it in 3rd gear (with a removed spare tire and quarter tank of gas ). From what I read about RR tune (dont have mine yet) that'll seal the deal.

Let us know!

I beat an A7 3.0t quattro (supercharged) off the line and up hill 0-75 the other day (nothing reckless). Not to get too off topic.

The 2018 Accord Touring weights 3428 lbs. The IS350 eights around 3600 lbs. Not that different.

Actual tested weight ranges from 3,070 to 3,146 for the Accord, depending on options. I think you found the worst case scenario for the grandma edition accord with all the luxury items? Either case, IS is still known to be disgustingly heavy.

Copy/paste from latest test results:

2017 IS350 F Sport
PRICE AS TESTED:
$50,154 (base price: $46,100)
Curb Weight: 3,785 lbs

Doesn't the LX Accord come with the 1.5T with CVT transmission? Much lighter than the touring 2.0T.

Yes, he have the touring model. Plus I have enkei raijin wheels which is 7lb lighter per wheel. I remember reading sonwhere that 1lb save at the wheel is equal to 8 lb save in curb weight. So technically I’m shaving 224lb off with the new wheels?

252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque for 2018 Accord 2.0T , the new accord looks impressive like the new Acura TL, 2018 accord 2.0T used Civic Type R Turbo engine but detuned to 252hp and Torque is as much as Lexus IS350 and they have lighter weight , i would go for more Torque than HP, just my 2 cents but who knows ! go race him and see.

You have to read the posts before yours. The Touring is pretty heavy around 3400 lbs. Luxury amenities are always heavy

I still say a tuned IS350 will be faster. If he has a chip though, he'll win easily.

I included the link in my prior post. It was to C&D. The OP stated his buddy has a Touring in the prior posts. Couple hundred lb difference at most.

What does it matter whether or not he can beat you? People seem to forget that the IS is very "Japanese performance" in most regards - it's about the DRIVE and the experience.

Drag racing and bragging on 0-60 and QM times are a very North American thing...the rest of the world for the most part doesn't care about that stuff. I mean...stock 5.0 Mustangs are sub 4 seconds 0-60 now. How many of us would be caught dead in one of those? In 2018, ANYTHING can be made to go fast in a straight line. There's nothing special about that anymore.

At the end of the day, he bought the ultimate econobox and is bragging about beating you in a drag race. Sounds like he bought the wrong car or is just trying to feel better about the fact that he bought an ACCORD. He's in the most ubiquitous, boring vehicle on the road and you're in a car that, while "older" now, is still a blast to drive 24/7.

The Accord is what it is. If it beats you in a drag race, who gives a ****.
