Default Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement (Extended Warranty)

Hi All,
Currently I have an 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport RWD at around 46K and i am about due on my 4yr or 50K warranty.

Now I have an option where i can purchase extended warranty from Lexus...
Below are my options & I am thinking about keeping my car for 10 years or more.
$2700 for 7 yr/100k
$2960 for 8 yr/100k

I think i might buy the $2960 for 8yr/100K, but i am trying to find an better price.. I tried to ask Lexus dealership to sell me at $2700 for 8yr/100k and they would not agree to it and says its not negotiable...
Have you guys purchased extended warranty and if I am being rip off?

I remember being offered the the 8 yr / 100k for around $1400. Yours sounds very pricey.

I purchased the 3/75,000 Platinum before my original warranty ran out. It was pricey, but I don't regret it for a second. We could afford it and I'm covered just in case.

you do know the warranty starts when you brought the car right? so the extended warranty is not on top of the original warranty but it starts when you own the car?

I meant 7/75,000, my bad. I was thinking 3 years after original warranty. My original warranty expired 11/29/17, so I now have 33,000 miles left or until 11/29/2020 - whichever comes first.

How wide is the variation in pricing? I just spoke with a dealer in town who quoted $2975 for the 6yr / 70,000 and $3525 7yr / 75,000. The second dealer said $1350 for the 6yr / 70,000 and $1865 7yr / 75,000

The first dealer is fleecing you. The second is much more reasonable.

Unless you plan on keeping car forever, just trade it in and lease. Leasing is relatively cheap and you never have to worry about being out of warranty. Plus a new car every 3 or so years.

I would try a couple of different dealers. And work them against each other.

BS! Relative to what? but the industry needs more of your kind to keep the economy moving and the auto sales industry surviving.
They need more of your kind, don't let them down!

The monthly payments never end with leasing.
