Would anyone be able to tell what the sensor that is circled is called? It recently started making a loud clicking sound.

Clicking for the first 30 seconds after start up only or continually?

It has something to do with emissions and heating the catalytic converter
more quickly. Once the cat comes up to temp the turbo controller should
quiet down.

Initially it was just at startup that I noticed it, but now it's constant. I was in traffic for 2 hours last night and it drove me insane. I'm sending it in next week to have the dealer take a look at it. Thank you for the info!!!!

How strange that a boost sensor would even make a ticking noise. Isn't a boost sensor more like a passive diaphragm without any motor inside it? Hardly any moving parts in it? How can that sensor possibly make a ticking noise? Can someone explain that?

I wonder if the ticking you're hearing are the four direct fuel injectors? They are very close to that sensor.

How certain are you that it is, in fact, that sensor that is making the ticking noise?

Even if that sensor were making a noise, would the ticking noise happen under no boost condition?

Something seems wrong with this initial diagnosis.

But I'm no expert.

I’ve never heard about that sensor giving a clicking sound, but I know the vacuum regulator is right below it and when it goes bad there’s a buzzing type sound.
