Default Check AWD system on is350 F-Sport

Hi guys,

I have a IS350 F-sport AWD model which I picked up in September up here in Canada. Just got my winter tires put on as well as first oil change at Bullock City (Toyota/Lexus technicians ). Driving back home, in about 10 kms time I received the

"Check AWD system" error come on as well as an amber caution symbol to the right. Pulled over to the side to make sure they set the tires up accurately in the staggered formation. Looked fine , front is 225/40r18 back is 25540r18.

Cant think of any reason why this would come on, note I don't have the tpms set up for the winter tires. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I am going to swing by again tomorrow as the garage is close to my home. Any input would

help. Seems like from the searches that a emission issue can have this effect , just found it strange this came on after throwing on the new tires.

You've got your sizes wrong. it should be more like 225/40r18 and 255/35r18. AWD systems like all four wheels to be the same diameter, and at your current set the rears are .9'' larger in diameter.

You were also better off having a square setup for winter wheels.

Sounds right @ClubLUser.

OP, your tire shop might have made a mistake if they recommended the size. Hope that hasn't caused any permanent damage...

Wrong tire size. Who sold you the tires?

Thank you guys, it is entirely my fault as I had bought the tires fairly new from a friend who had an is250. I didn't bother to check the rears being 35 or 40.

Having said that I'm assuming this difference is quite drastic and I'll likely have to take these off in order to not damage the AWD system? Oh well I guess I can use it on the wife's rwd is250 , so not all is lost.

It happens, I know Subaru's don't like a difference of more than 1/4 inch between tires. So, yes take em off and I recommend getting a set of square wheels.
