Default Jealous of you Americans

First off let me say that i am a Canadian. I am so jealous of you guys because you guys have so much options when it comes to buying your car (in particular the IS is my consideration). I want to get the IS300 with the ultrasonic blue exterior and rioja red interior - oh wait, we don't have that in Canada and the dealer said they cannot custom order it. You guys have navi on the flippin 200t, yet another option we don't have and not to mention that your 200t has ventilated seats as well. I was on the american site to see the options, and you guys ca choose individual things if you would like. We have basically three packages and you either take it or leave it. There is no in between. Additionally, the upgrade to the IS350 is $10,000CAD. Absolutely ridiculous compared to the figures I've seen for you all down south. Ugh, makes me mad how we live so close yet there are these vast differences. I'm sure the population difference makes it such that a combination of colour and features that may be considered slow-moving in Canada is reasonably sold down south; hence justifying the magnitude of customizability available.

I also love the new rx350 but ultrasonic blue isn't even offered here. I saw it on instagram with the rioja red in russia or something. My god, what a beauty.

Just wanted to make this rant-like post since ive searched for something similar and have never been able to find it.

For some reason Lexus doesn't offer à la carte customization in Canada when other manufacturers do, I feel your pain. US and A - 1, Canada - 0.

However we could get USB (the color, not the plug) on the 2014-15 model when our neighbors couldn't.

In Canada, the IS350 is only available in AWD now, so no IS350 RWD anymore?

Yes Wunko, they dropped IS350 RWD when they went to 3rd gen if I recall, I forgot. Pretty much a bad decision because it would have customers going for other car brands or resort to importing.

Lexus Canada did do special orders at one point in time but no longer did it since it was cost prohibitive for them to do so.

Well, in Europe we don't have the IS350 at all. Just IS250 and IS300h on the 14-15 and IS300h and IS200t on later models. That's a real shame...

Yeah, I hate paying for things that I don't want. The only options I got was the bigger motor, the heated/ventilated seats, the LED headlights, the reverse camera, and the blind-spot detection with auto-dimming mirrors.

Does Lexus make diesel cars in Europe?

It is indeed too bad that Lexus doesn't allow custom orders, especially when all the German brands do.

RWD was discontinued in Canada in the 2016 MY. Other than pure driving enthusiasts, very few people opt for RWD in Canada. Snow and RWD are bad combination for the ill-experienced.

Luckily, no.
We used to have a horrible 2.2 diesel engine (I believe it was a D-4D Toyota engine) on the 2IS, but not any other Lexus model. They could also be had with manual transmission.
Personally, would not buy or recommend - Lexuses and diesel engines do not go together.
Here's one of the nicest examples I could find: http://www.auto24.ee/used/2594216

Lexus did offer IS350 RWD in 14-15 but they sold so few of them the dropped it.

You Canadians can drive around older imported RHD japanese cars and register them legally. We cannot do that here in the States, at least legally.

we can, they just have to be 20 or 25 years old or somewhere around there. it's a ridiculously antiquated law that needs to be repealed.

It is also how Lexus Canada promotes their cars as well, especially RWD. Like for the IS, generally you saw features missing which are available on the AWD variant. It was more apparent comparing it to the Lexus US's RWD offering of the car as well.

But you guys can drive around newer RHD imports.

Grass is always greener on the other side eh.
