Probably because nobody was renewing for that crazy price. 80 for the winter? sign me up.

So if you remote start the car. How far can someone drive the Mustang without having the key?

they can drive to anywhere they want but once the engine shuts off. they would require a key to start the car again.

Not sure, never tried it (was enjoying a 5 day vacation). But given that the remote start was from the keyfob, I was well within visual range of the car whenever I activated the remote start.

Hmm, can't you remote start the car while it's still locked? I thought that was one of the main advantages of it versus starting the car yourself in order to warm it up.

That my friend, is the entire objection of my post. It's paying extra for something you've already bought for $50k.
Not a little extra, yearly subscription for hundreds of dollars for "features" that nobody uses.
Even if it's $80 per year. In 5 years that's $400. No thanks.
I know I can get an aftermarket for couple hundred bucks, but It's about principle. I really hope Lexus change it's stance in the future.

Those suggesting a Kia are not really helping their point or just trolling me. I paid $50k for a luxury car with locked out feature that a $20k Kia comes standard with?

Can't you just install an after market remote start system for cheaper than $350?

I strongly doubt it.

My sister has a Murano with fob remote start and it doesn't shut off when you open the door. You cannot, however, take it out of park unless the key is inside the car. I think that's how most of the ones work that don't turn off when you open the door.

Yes. Have seen that on others. Makes sense.

The new pricing lets you pay for what you use:
Safety Connect/Service Connect (SOS button) is $80/year - was $140
SC + Lexus Remote Start (fob & phone) is $80 + $80 = $160 - was $250
SC + Destination Assist (no RS) is $80 + $80 = $160 - was $299
SC + RS + DA is 3 x $80 = $240 - was $350

Not totally true from what I see when I check out the current pricing. They FORCE you to buy Safety Connect to get Enform Remote. I don't want Safety Connect. I don't want to bee forced to pay for it to get Enform Remote. This is bad bundling practice IMO.

Well, for me, I commute and I can start my car on a train 5 miles away approaching my station at 60mph.

if you know of a fob that can do that, lemme know.
